Flumpy it was 11degrees at 7 this morning in Bristol and set to get to 14.  Misty and damp though but heating off!  My plants did not arrive yesterday from SGC so I will have to stay in.  I have an online grocery order coming between 1 and 2 in the afternoon as well and my washing machine has conked out so I need to do some searching on the net for a new energy efficient one.  Luckily I have had a rebate of £145 from British gas as my monthly direct debits were too high and the £300 from the government for heating and £10 Xmas bonus have all gone in the bank this month so I will not need  my overdraught  or to cash in my premium bonds.  I might get a fright when I see the prices as I have not bought one for 11 years.  I did think I might hang on till the Boxing day sales but the pile of washing is horrendous already.  My cooker is over 21 years old too but seems to still be in good nick.  The new lampshade I bought online from John Lewis is just gorgeous and I am longing to have it up but told myself not to be silly when i caught myself looking at the stepladder.  I will have to wait till a younger person visits.  In the meantime it is sat on the chair opposite mine where I can drink in the lovely abstract design of leaves in the exact colours of my carpet!!!  Have a lovely day Flumpy.

Not Hotpoint for me Flumpy as I had my twin tub catch fire and the one I have has not been very good and my fridge freezer from them was defunct on arrival so, going on the 25 years trouble free service I have had from my Miele vacuum cleaner I am having a Triple A energy saving one from Miele delivered on Saturday.  Coop electrical so have good price and my dividend and they fit and take away the old one.  Five years warranty from the manufacturers too.  Thank goodness I will be clean again by Xmas!

My alpines have arrived from SGC - bursting out of their pots so I should be able to get four or five good plants from each.  They will be quite good clumps by the time I can plant them out in the Alpine tapestry garden.  In the meantime they will fill up the cold frame nicely with the lid open except when we have heavy rain.  I made quite a lot of leaf mould this afternoon.  The weather is quite balmy now.

  • It's mild here too, Marion, but I hate these dark afternoons.  No time to get anything done outside today.

Glad you got your washer sorted.  We have a Miele vacuum cleaner which is lasting well.

Anything interesting in your alpine collection?

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

All the A's funnily enough Liriodendron - Antennaria, Androsace, Azorella Alchemilla "Alma" and Alyssum.  Very dark and gloomy in Bristol this morning though 13 degrees already.  Garden looks very wet.

My alpines are the usual treadable ones for my tapestry which is going to replace my meadow grass. All in the A's funnily enough.  Antennaria "Trend alur druggart", Androsace septentriones Stardust, Azorella trifurcata, Alchemilla erythropoda Alma ad Alyssum montanum Bergold.  All good spreaders.
