Thank you all. I am sure the good wishes, thoughts, prayers, hugs positive vibes etc. from this forum have made a difference.
Still not completely sorted, time is still against me if Sunday doesn't work out especially, but have had another firm offer tonight, still in France but a 7 hour drive away and can't do anything until 2nd week of October, but sounds like a lovely lady and with 10 acres in a forest - no sheep - and 2 other dogs to play with.
All offers being stacked up in case, but Sunday lady would be perfect. By Monday he has to be gone from here so we are still looking for a foster, or as I am preferring to think of it, a 'holiday' home for him.

Hope you find the right home for Shadow DD, it will make a very sad situation a little easier knowing Shadow is happy in his new home. Not an easy decision, thinking of you. Take care, very best wishes DD xx

Thank you all again, just off the e-mail again with yet another offer. Still a bit complicated and a 7 hour drive away - 14 hour round trip - but an offer all the same.
Hosta, I am coming to the UK in spring and no matter what I am going to get myself to Devon to give you the biggest hug ever, you are the sweetest little cherub ever. xxxx

Thank you very much Tetley, really looking hopeful that we have found a home in France now, 3 offers, just cats and timing issues but I think at least one will work out.

I will also look forward to that DD, I live close to Hostafan and another meet would be lovely. Don't expect a little cherub though, cherub he is not, although lovely, both of them are.
I am so pleased things are working in the right direction, if it's any consolation at all to you..my son and daughter in law had to re home their Labrador cross, just last weekend, he just jumped in the car, was all over the new family, tail wagging like mad as only labs can do, he didn't give a backwards glance, they telephoned my son later in the week and the dog had settled like he had always been there, bit scared of their cat but coming round.
We always think that no one can love them like we do, but if people travel to you and take that trouble, it's because they really want the dog.
You will be able to tell straight away if they will be suited to each other
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
And also, I have secured a safe place for Shadow to go whilst we sort out a new home. Hurrah!
There is also a strong possibility it could turn out to be his 'forever home'. They have young children and another dog and want to be sure he is ok with them all. They also have 17 hectares of private land, mostly forest, all fenced, no farm animals nearby and are only 3 or 4 miles from here. I know the family, their son is a school friend of Charlie's so if (big if) it works out Charlie will still be able to see Shadow from time to time.
I am absolutely holding my breath to see how it all goes. Fingers crossed.

DD, everything crossed here, that it could be his forever home. As you say, if you feel he could be happy there it makes it a little easier for you. You'd only worry all the time if you'd chosen the right one. Lots of space for him to play and close by for little Charlie to perhaps see him from time to time.
Thinking of you DD, best wishes, hope everything gets settled soon. Big hugs xx
