I bought a 50ft and 75 ft one from Ebay. Says "Original as seen on TV". Firstly the 75ft one leaked water as the inner hoes hadn't been crimped/attached when manufactured. Suppliers were great and sent new one by next day. Tried both hoses and the inner hoses (on both) detached from the connector fitting at the "gun" end and disappeared back up the outer sheathing. Just as previous peoples complaint. This all happened in minutes. Suppliers now sending out two new ones and I am to report back on Monday after trialling over the weekend. I'm afraid to say that I don't have much confidence in the replacements being any different. Although the suppliers have said they will refund if no good, it is annoying as the concept is brilliant and was great for the few minutes it worked. Seems like more Chinese poor quality manufacturing which is increasingly flooding into this country. It really should not be allowed. Why can't the UK start making all this stuff?

I bought my 75ft X hose (on offer from the Daily Express) after it was previewed at Chelsea last year, and have loved it. I need to take a hose through the house to water the front, as we live in a terrace.  To do this with the old heavy hose was a chore, with my husband winding the reel like crazy at the back when I had finished, while I carried the hose back through.

The X hose has made life so much easier.  However at the weekend a tiny hole appeared, spraying water up in to the air.  We were able to fix it with Duck Tape. Then a day later another appeared.  This time the Duck Tape didn't work and (in this heat!!) the pots and troughs in my front garden were parched. At age 83 I wasn't about to carry watering cans, and luckily there was enough hose at the nozzle end for me to be able to put the leaky bit into a large bucket, and carry on watering.

It worked, though by the time I had finished, the bucket was almost full.  I looked on Google for ways to repair the hose, and found a demo on youtube of a man repairing a 'pocket hose', a similar principal.  If my bucket solution for the front doesn't work, or more holes appear, I may try the repair - after all, what have I to lose? But I really don't want to go back to the old-style, so if necessary will buy another X hose.  From a seller who will replace if necessary!!

  • I have had a 30m xhose for 14 months. I have been extremely pleased with it, but in common with many posts above, it has now split. I have been told by High St TV that it is out of warranty so they won't refund or replace. They have offered 20% off another.

On balance, as I paid around £90 for it, I think it is a total waste of money, and won't be buying another until they improve the materials from which it is manufactured.

  • I agree. On my second hose now and the outer casing cannt cope with my driveway surface its burst twice. Tried to shorten and re attach with less than good result as can not now reach front garden.

  • OMG. Just reading the reviews. My first hose was brought from a market. brilliant for the first few times. Then leaked at the gun socket. Tried to repair by pushing the hose into the nozzle and super gluing into place. Worked ok for a while, then same issue. I thought it was me and that I had perhaps brought a dodgy on from a market. I have just ordered one from Argos. I do hope this one is better. At least if it goes pop I can get my money back.

  • I have had to return two 75 ft X Hose due to both having the inner tube rupture. Appears to be a common problem. Shame as i thought the hose action was good

  • Glad I stumbled across this thread as MrT has been pestering me to get one of those XHose's for a while now. He see's me lumbering the big heavy thing around and says the lighter one would ' make my job easier'! I will let him know that the 15 year old, heavy cumbersome one is fine thanks - and maybe he would like to have a go now and again to give me a break, haha

I am another sufferer of a split in the outer canvas casing after only its third use. Luckily I have got my money back. However, a brilliant idea - particularly for the more elderly among us - shame about the quality control. I don't plan to get another - yet!
