Tootles, stationed at Burscough near Southport with most weekends off it would be on the motorbike and off to Blackpool. Dancing in the Tower Ballroom was always special and usually packed out. When they played a Latin dance we got room to show off, most of the Ladies who danced Latin were the older ones who would hold on to you for more dances once they knew you could dance so we got supper and drinks, fair enough as I was always hungry and broke. My late wife and I often had long weekend in Blackpool dancing in the Tower, always a wonderful experience in a fantastic Ballroom.
Runnybeak, the floor space is quite big and for normal periods has tables at one end and bench seats along the side, it is high with balcony's giving a feeling of space, certainly plenty of room to open your legs and move. Strictly packs more seats in reducing the space to dance. I danced in the Hammersmith Palais and Streatham Locarno among the many places we had then and they may have been more spacious though the Blackpool atmosphere was different. My daughter and her husband have danced there a couple of times lately and agree it is still the Queen of dance halls.
If that is a Royal Enfield then I have driven one and worn that uniform except it was dyed blue and worn with a red tie which meant I was in convalescence. Life has some strange twists and turns David. Motorcycling was as much a love of mine as dancing and had some great bikes, Norton the best, Triumph the worst. Funny though the girls loved the bike on a hot day but would not have a lift on cold wet days, cannot understand why?
I've seen the Strictly Tour show at the O2 (last year) and have tickets booked for this year It's pretty good live, but could have lived without Lisa Riley who compered last year I do find her rather annoying

Do agree RB, depending where you sit, you'd probably see more on TV. Just the atmosphere really.
OH and I went to an ice skating show, we had good seats but wasn't quite the same.
ooh erh, runny, what have I missed?
Know what you mean Runny. The comfort of your own sofa, kettle / bottle opener on hand and no queues for the loo!
Cant recall where I heard, but I think that the set gets dismantled every week. What a task!
I'd like to go and see them in Blackpool though. The building looks amazing.

Shame Jay slipped, still a good dance though.
Think everyone improved this week.
Wish Jeremy hadn't done that daft bit in the bath. His long legs make the dancing look worse than it is.
Do wish Kelly would stop screaming, she's starting to get on my nerves.
After poor Jay's slip-up, I didn't think it a very memorable week.
For me, this was my favourite: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p035hvmh
