Blimey Pat 100 acres, that must keep you busy, I don't mind plants shooting off and popping here and there, at least you have loads of room to put these extra plants. I bet watering pots can be hard work, I used to live in Spain and remember how dry it was there.
I think our climate is similar to Spain at times, Lorna. We often watch the TV show - a place in the sun home or away, so we see their conditions. I try to limit how many things I grow in pots because it takes too much looking after, but I was isolating this particular day lily to see what became of it. I'm trying to think where I can transplant them after flowering to a place where they can run wild. We've also got irises and red hot pokers which we give free reign to. Doesn't matter, and if they survive on what they can get themselves, good luck to them.
Wow Kathy Barbados, hope you have had a lovely time over there, Hope you had some nice weather aswell, it's been rain and wind here, I believe the UK has had this bad weather aswell. Hope it calms down by the time you are home. xx
My first daylilies of the year are in flower, this is H. lilioasphodelus, which is the first of all, too early even for the midges. The flowers are a modest size compared to the large hybrids, but still a good size.
