Fire and Fog sounds perfect for your pebble area Elizabeth
Not a lot of gardening being done here its been so wet I can't walk on the beds to weed and because its been so mild the weeds are still growing!!, we have been doing some hedge cutting though our property is surrounded by a hedge of hawthorn blackthorn etc which had become way to tall so lots of trailer loads to the tip the past few weeks.
I to have Christmas Is and another one which I think I've posted beforenot sure, All I Want for Christmas, this one is stunning in real life the petals actually have a texture like velvet 9.5inch flowers, 34inches tall, evergreen, early flowers and it reblooms so everything going for it,classed as a UFO cascade,(hybridiser Wilkerson 2010) very kindly sent to me by a friend a couple of years ago
A very Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone on here from me too
Sorry you have so much rain in UK? We are still having wonderful weather although a bit foggy this morning just because my husband had to go the airport, but it is lovely now. No doubt we will get the rain soon and once it starts, it will not stop. In a way I won't be sorry as I have a lot of indoor things to do like photo sorting and my family tree to update.
Kathy, you are really making it difficult for me to stop buying new plants as All I Want For Christmas is another that will go on the list. Another gorgeous specimen.
Kathy, at long last the day lily I told you about, way back in August, has produced flowers. To remind you, this double one appeared in my clump or ordinary old single ones, so I separated it out and put it in a pot.
Definitely 'Kwanso' Pat, the double form of the original tawny daylily or ditch lily,I have this one too its well known for being very vigorous and sends off runners up to 3ft from the parent plant definitely not one for my daylily bed as it pops up among other clumps, as I found out many years ago and even now after moving it over 10 years ago I still get the odd one pop up among other clumps a real pain, saying that I do like it and it now has a spot in a border well away from my more precious daylilies.
Here's a link which shows a few pictures of it for you to compare
Thanks Kathy. That fits with my experience of it just appearing.
interestingly, I received my Diggers catalogue today (where I buy most of my seeds) and I noticed a photo of. Day lily. So, I took the time to read the description, because they only sell heritage seeds. Here is a summary.
Hemerocallis fulva. - better yet, I'll try to photograph it and attach to the next message. You might find it interesting,
Yes Lorna, I really like it. I don't care if it finds other locations to live in - we've got 100 acres for it to roam in. When it finishes flowering, I'll find somewhere for it to start its new life. Watering pots is a bit of a strain sometimes when we are usually very dry here.
