I've just looked at the site I recommended in Slovenia and it was fatal. I have ordered another 15 Hemerocallis, 4 more Hostas and 4 other plants. I have not got the foggiest idea where I can put them all next Spring. I am already digging other herbaceous plants up to make room for the ones I bought this Autumn. I was going to order the ones I liked last time but did not order but they have so many new ones that I couldn't stop myself. It's only money I thought with no thought to positioning them. I've got a bit of juggling to do in the garden now and there I was, trying to cut back and downsize my working area.
Lacey Doily is gorgeous Elizabeth and it reblooms, even better, I sent a division to a friend this autumn so hope she likes it too
Nooo don't tell me that!! I'm going to have to go for another look now!
I've just swapped 5 more with my friend in The Azores and don't know where they're going yet, they always spend their first winter here in the greenhouse in big pots, bit of a shock the UK after The Azores, I swore no more but then he tempted me with all these gorgeous ones how could I refuse!,
If you'd like something to google on a wet day here's the ones he sent me
Amethyst Island
Kokopelli
Implosive Explosive (his first registered daylily,so a new intro this year!)
The next 2 are a couple of his seedlings I really love, if you google them it'll take you to the Growsonyou website think you can view them if you aren't a member.
Angel Fairy Tern x Judge Nancy
BSA 7
A few others he sent me last year that I haven't posted pictures of yet as they're still settling in are.
Eye of Horus
Geneva Top Notch
Core Values
Life is a Highway(absolutely stunning! had some flowers this year but my pictures didn't come out well)
I did only buy one last year but it was quite an expensive one 'Pixie Pinwheel Party'
I spent ages looking all those daylillies up on the web and have joined the site you mentioned as I know I will dip in and out when I have time.
I particularly liked Amethyst Island, BSA7 is gorgeous, and Eye of Horus is also a lovely one, so clear a colour. All the rest were pretty amazing too. Where does one draw the line though. I really will have my work cut out for me just as soon as I can get out in the garden again.
I cleared quite a bit of dead plants and cut back a lot of shrubs on Sunday as it was a beautiful day with the intention of having a big bonfire on Monday so I could clear some more. No such luck, the fog came down very early and it stayed all day. The same thing today so it was another lost day.
A few of the new ones I have purchased are: Applique, Chinese Incantation, Darya, a toss up between that and Daria and Spacecoast Freaky Tiki. I ordered a few old favourites too like, Night Beacon, Calico Jack and Purple Rain.
I keep a spreadsheet with all the names and details along with the border number which helps to keep tabs on them as long as I change it when I move a plant.
Still looking for a supplier of Elizabeth Salter without spending a fortune. She was my 2 x great grandmother and I have a wonderful photo of her on my office wall, so old fashioned but then she was born in 1829. It would be nice to have a plant of the same name.
Glad you like them Elizabeth, BSA7 is in the greenhouse with a flower scape!! Wylie manage to keep it intact when posting and its carried on growing, wonder if it'll flower, maybe not.
The growsonyou site is a really good one I've been a member on there for many years, I go under the username of Simbad, if you add members as favourites you receive alerts when they add pictures or if you choose not to recieve alerts you just scroll down on your news page and it tells you if any of your favourites have added pictures, there's always someone posting daylily pictures, Wylie has them flowering practically all year and now Daglelie who lives in South Africa is just starting her season, so you can see pictures all year
You also get a very good garden section were you can add details and photos of plants in your garden, I find it very useful for keeping records of all plants I buy and where they are in the garden.
Lovely selection of daylilies you've ordered! Applique is one of my favourites and another that reblooms here, the flowers are huge!, a couple I'm not familiar with so I'll google them
Haha Verdun I always have spares!! so any you like just ask I'll be splitting lots next spring
A couple of pictures
Madge Cayse, more of an apricot colour than the pictures showing.
Crocodile Eye
German Ballerina, smaller 4inch flowers on this one.
And German Ballerina doing the poly thing , love these one off flowers.
I thought Simbad was you Kathy as I thought of your cat Symba when I saw the name, not that I am implying you look like your cat.
I will keep an eye on the site from time to time but I am rather busy at the moment transcribing church records for other genealogists to search when working on their family trees.
I rather like Madge Cayse as it looks like a double daffodil and the German Ballerina is very attractive too. I quite like the dwarfer varieties as they can be put at the front of the border so you see them much more easily. Great if they are scented too. I have a few of them but I particularly like Corky as it is so delicate. It got swamped in the big border with the common or garden one and I thought I had lost it but I found it again when clearing the border out so have broken it up into several plants for next year.
I've just been out to look for my 'Longfield Twins' as I cannot remember which border I put them in and my scrap of paper with the latest plantings does not have it marked with a position. I shall have to try again when the fog has gone as it is quite damp and horrible. Not a day for gardening.
I need to mark the plants more permanently as the little labels are prone to moving away from the plant very mysteriously either by the birds, wind or my cats. How do you mark yours? I have been using the plastic labels with a dyno machine but I noticed a couple of earlier ones are coming away from the plastic label and will disappear if I am not careful. None of the marker pens seem to last on plastic labels, so I don't know what the answer is.
Best of luck with your BSA7, I hope it flowers this year before it gets too cold. I still have a few flower buds but I don't think they will bloom as it is quite cold here now.
Sorry I've not been about, had a few things going on Kathy I have Pm'd you. K
Kathy your daylilies are stunning and way to many for me to name that I like, but Life is a Highway and Eye of Horus are stunning, but they are all really really beautiful.
Thanks for the advise Verdun with the bindweed, I will have to try that next year and see how I get on.
Elizabeth thanks for the link and info on the grass that I liked, I will have to look at the link. Your grasses are lovely some really beautiful ones there.
Pat your gardens beautiful.
ooh Kathy German Ballerina is another beautiful one, God I've missed seeing these plants, they are so beautiful.
Elizabeth I also do transcribing records, Been doing my family tree for about 4 years now, then signed up to do some transcribing.
Funny you should say that about Madge Cayse several other people have said the same!. Corky is a lovely one yes yellow but the burgundy buds make it a bit different always the first the open here.
I've given up on trying to label mine I did use the copper labels but of course magpies love shiny things so they never stay put, with mine being in a huge rectangular bed they are in fairly straight lines so I drew a huge plan, they are all numbered and easy to keep track of, I can tell you were they all are though without it now,any not in the bed I make a note of on the growsonyou website my garden section so I know were they are in the borders.
Remarkabley the BSA7 bud is still growing very slowly though
Thanks Lorna I really must move German Ballerina she's on the allotment as when I got her there was no space made in the garden.
Nice to see you back I'll pm you later
A couple more pictures of mine
Fire and Fog
Corky
Final Touch, a bi-color (petals different colour to sepals) always sad when this one starts as its always the last to flower.
Emmaus, another late bloomer and rebloomer in fact it has buds now!, don't think they'll open though.

If you are passing by, I would be happy to share with you when I split but you will need your passport as I live in the South West part of France.
