I like aqilegias, kerria, forsythia, Choisya Sundance, spirea, bedding and hanging baskets! Love roses and foxgloves - how could one not love them! Agree with Verdun about crocus.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I don't like Kerria, and the only reason I keep the Skimmia is that its such a huge dense bush and the birds love it in the winter, otherwise it would go.
I hate that Celandine, and spend time every year getting every little bit out, which is silly really as they die off and you dont see them again, I just think they take liberties.
I don't like splash plants, especially the laurel, reminds me of when my dad used to flick his paint brushes dry in the garden and catch the plants... mum would go spare!!!
I do love aquilegia though, they never self seed here... maybe because I dead head them often.
I will probably think of more throughout the day.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I grow crocus in pots (stuffed full in two or three layers) - that way you get the wonderful spring colour - then the pots get put in a corner until the following spring.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I hate variegated plants where the leaves are distorted, like the variegated laurels - to me the plant just looks ill. I also hate OTT double, frilly or green-striped tulips, and much prefer the simple, single version of many flowers. Hate those foxgloves with the non-tubular flowers - what's the point??
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I also like Acuba japonica variegata because I have a lime tree and it grows under it where most plants wouldn't.
Roses, Rhododendron, any sterile/double flowers that provide nothing for wildlife. Seems a waste for a little bit extra colour.
