Still nothing this morning (North Forest of Dean) but lady from the next village popped some in my pond when I was out shopping.  I know we are not supposed to move it from one pond to another but...........

I am so pleased to have some babies thoughimage

Beautiful pictures ! I'm up to about 50 clumps of spawn here, with more still being laid every day!

We seem to have a healthy splodge of spawn, but the amount is right down on last years.  There was a sort of influx of a new colour of frogs too, they looked larger and very much darker than the usual; common frog colour.

    Any comments on this ?

There's been a sound of 'Woo woo wooing' gannin on oop t'lotty pond. Cold slimy embracing and googly eyes fluttering over the water. No cameras, please.

  • I have a single set of frogs I'm laying my hopes on but nothing yet. My mother in law has had spawn for weeks and she's a mile down the road.

It does seem weird how theres bucketfulls in one spot and hardly anything in others, could it be the aspect of the garden or pond?

Pete, i think the dark colour is due to the cold, they will lighten up as it gets warmer image

Wont my pond run out of oxygen with all this spawn covering it, or is that just how nature keeps the population in check? It seems the road keeps the population down too image
