Now I thought that too, plus the watering would have to be 'Inventive'...
I have been supervising the fitting of a new shed roof, which translates to Tea n' toastie maker... I did help a bit but too many cooks etc.. I helped put a plastic sheet over it to keep the rain out.. I picked a few tomatoes and added to the ware butts the collected rain from the last 24 hours.. I am going to cloche a few plants, hopefully when the drizzle stops.. New hair do's and drizzle do not mix..
Took some time to dig in compost and grit etc to what was formerly a grass area. It's right in front of the conservatory/porch, but we can't decide what to do with it, so I'm just going to put bulbs in just now, which will give us some months to decide what to do there more permanently. Should finish the digging tomorrow, and also have to chop up the apple tree branches into little bits for the wheely bin.
Lovely warm autumnal day here so got a few good jobs off my list. Took a bag of 2" thick sunflowers stems, two big trugs of rotten apples and a huge bag of non compostable other stuff to the local tip. Pruned an overgrown pyracantha. Seived the last of my 2014 compost and gave it to a couple of tired looking borders then raked up a load of leaves to add to my leaf mold bin.
A very satisfying day and I feel as if I have had a good healthy 'work out'
Hoe hoe hoed, weeded, swept up eleventy seven tons of beech leaves. It hasn't rained here for weeks so that was easy peasy. They have gone the way of leaf mould.
Took out some annuals which have gone over and swore at some vine weevil grubs. They are decimating my little plantlets.
Not got much to do at the moment, re-jigged some of the bog area where the plants had got over crowded and found space to add a eupatorium. Dead headed another causing seeds to fly off everywhere... Finally planted a globe flower alabaster and an oxlip I bought months ago and have just been sat around. Planted out some more orpines I made and put some of the empty pot mountain out the way (where I can't see it).
Requisitioned a few trugs of leaves out the street to improve my soil Don't think anyone saw
