Hello , started to sort out Greenhouse , picked all toms , had already move out door Tom pots and Tom hanging baskets into g/h , as we where going away for a couple of weeks
cut them all down and took pots & baskets to allottment to add to compost bins
put 2 chilli plants and parsley in conservatory , also o/h used the basil which on its way out
tommrow will take grow bags to allotment
once g/h clear will use sulphur candel and take down shading and put up bubble rap
Not sure if it was gardening or not. I shifted a load of concrete slabs I'd placed as a grass path edging years ago. Widening the path and the slabs only served and protection for weed roots at best. Carted them way across the garden to the bits and pieces store. Sack-trolley very handy but bits of me are complaining
Hi, just found this thread. Reading some of the posts alone made me feel tired - Runnybeak and Victoria you seem especially busy. Victoria, it sounds like you virtually reinvent your garden every year which is great. I find that so much of gardening is trial and error.
My tomatoes were a disaster this year. I had the idea of planting them in a block on the veg patch, which of course meant the inner sides didn't get enough light - eventually loads of tomatoes, but very few turned red and then when I removed loads of the leaves to help I damaged one stem. Before I knew it the lot had blight and went in the bin - not sure our compost gets hot enough to destroy the spores.
Speaking of that, does anyone have one of those hot composters? Any good? Also, if you have any green tomatoes still then the curry recipe on this blog is amazing - friends made it for us at the weekend:
Jomilton I like the sound of reinventing better than 'doesn't plan and never satisfied' Also I'm off work at the mo so want to get a lot done.
A smell of winter in the air today, almost got a bit excited about xm*s
Moved a bunch of stuff around today (of course) and pulled myself together and got 120 odd bulbs planted, just leaving a sack of tulips which are going in pots. Only got about 12 plants now to move and some will have to wait until the dahlias are done. Also got a weeping Apple tree to shift.
Left some gaps for some new plants I'm after, a centaurea Jordy, a giant helenium, a couple of campanulas, a pink aconitum, a purple phlox, a funky yew and....so on
Also wrote out a month by month list of which seeds I'm sowing next year and where the plants are going.
Had some clematis arrive today that I bought in Thorncrofts sale.
Planted four of them, changed planting positions at the last minute for 3, one because I was doubting the colour and two because they were in a snail zone. I'll plant climbing roses there, got a beady eye on two.
Left one unplanted because the space is difficult to access and couldn't be bothered. Then moped about watching my sparrows Might do that again now, with a nice cup of tea and a hot sausage roll

Hoping to get an hour or two in the garden tonight before it gets dark. I need to at least pick some French Beans for tea.

you lot are busy bees.
I spent 4 hours on the mower and it's all done now ready for our house guest arriving tomorrow evening.
I've got a few chores lined up for tomorrow then a bit of pottering.
I did note the agapanthus are starting to yellow so might have to make room in the polytunnel for them.
Hello sorted out the greenhouse yesterday and today and visited allottment
Jomilton , sent green tomatoe curry link to o/h , looks really good
Grass needs cutting and hawthorn hedge needs last trim of the year , always lots to do but better than being bored
