Went down to my allotment today waterlogged no digging! New plot holder has dug up half the the dividing path not told about path by council roll on self management.
On a better note all my onions. garlic, broad beans in modules in my cold green house are coming along nicely. Insulated the green house today with bubble wrap going to buy some paraffin up the temperature. Then start sowing on the weekend. I will plant out the onions broad beans and garlic some in raised bed some on ridges on drier parts of allotment. Good day Need some dry weather.
If it does not happen i will build an ark or a pond and lean to speak my new neighbors language. Nice lad.
So the vacant plot list is getting smaller. I love to see the plots used. Once I emptied my boots, its been a good Day
Lovely approach to your gardening problems. If problems are what they are. Watched video on warming my son pot plants and decided to put some on top of the boiler in the garage for a try. Some in the airing cupboard too. See how thet go.
Another brill day in the garden, albeit somewhat blustery.
Moved two potentillas from a secluded corner - they deserve better and moved a few monardas to a halfway house border as I'm not sure what colour they're going to be.
Found some young stinging nettles here and there and transferred the little beauties in to the nettle patch. Only got stung once, through a glove.
Found some buds on my red and grey hellebores and noticed the face has fallen out of the one yellow bud on another. I'm blaming the wood pigeon
Loads of seedlings appearing outside too - can't wait to see what they are Going to have a coffee outside now and monitor their progress
Hurrah! Proper gardening has started - fruit bushes pruned, espalier pear pruned and tied in, clematis and roses pruned, some of the perennials cut back, FB&B scattered around fruit bushes, shrubs, broad beans, PSB and cabbages - I'm a happy bunny
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Snowdrops still if full bloom and all the other bulbs are through and getting ready to do their stuff. My roses of all sorts just have not given up trying to bud and grow since last spring. Shooting all the time; snow forecast however up here in Cumberland so they may be in for another shock.
Just pulled the last of the Brussels sprouts and am still picking ruby chard leaves and bits of greens. I do not have a greenhouse only a cold frame in a very draughty situation so chomping at the bit to get something going other that my autumn planted onions garlic and shallots! I will this year have to restrain myself as since moving back up north I am having to give planting times at least 4wks more than I have been used to further south.
Cold and very windy with grey skies but a great day to be out in the garden or the countryside.
Stop it Dove you'll get me all jealous, it's still a bit claggy on the clay here yet to get properly started, I keep wandering out there though and doing little jobs here and there.
It's been lovely here in the South East. Sunny and windy. Some seeds are up in the greenhouse. I have been repotting, cutting back and generally having a good tidy. Just cooking a roast now. Nicely knackered A really good day!
Had a rethink about the steeply sloping bed I've just put the new water butt in at the bottom behind a rose arch. We need to occasionally get to the down pipe to clear it so have put 3 paving slabs across the slope to make that job easier. Also means that I'll be able to get in there and weed more easily. Had to dig up some bergenia, heathers and irises to do it so potted them up while I think where else they could go.
Was very pleased to find a lovely pale pink Corydalis I thought had died last year has just popped up in my shady patch near to another new one called Blackberry Wine so hastily put a few slug pellets down. Stopped for a late lunch and then rain stopped play so spent a happy hour or so looking through my Plant Labels box (A to Z - very organised!). I've started to write on them the year I bought the plant and where it is which is a great help sometimes. Roll on Spring!
The Alicante Tom seeds I tried in a pot and put in the airing cupboard, in a black bag, have emerged like little sand-worms on the beach. I have taken the black bag off and will let them grow free on the kitchen windowsill. ...got three more varieties for the same treatment. Have to be crafty though: must do it without stirring up the airing cupboard or ...
