planted my new 'mme Alfred Carriere' rose by the arch this morning then spent the rest of my time in the garden trying to stop my 19 month old trying to say 'hello' to and touch and stroke bees... it's all very well having a garden full of flowers for insects but we had to come in as he wouldn't leave them alone!!

  • Verdun - no I didn't know that. Just chop it off at the top of the stalk before the leaves start? Stalk is about 18 - 24inches at the moment then huge head of leaves. image

  • Verdun - great I will do that image

gardenlily he can't bear to lose a patient, so would gladly spend the day taking it out carefully, he doesn't do gardening but does the building parts, fireplace in garden, garden wall in old bricks, anything that needs muscles, i do the gardening and make stuff from pallets image

Done my first bit of gardening since we came home from the New York trip. Have deadheaded 3 climbing roses and done some weeding in the veggie garden.

    Before and after.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Beaten on the longest day of the year by darkness! Retreated from the garden into the house at 9.50pm. Tidy tatties, proud peas and tip top tomatoes.  Love it!
