I'm still trying to go back to sleep. The poodle woke me at about 6am (after getting to bed at 2am after watching the Tour) and then, of course, I was awake. I notice that she has gone back to sleep. Hubby is lightly snoring. It is a high price to pay!
if all goes well today, I'll try to get some sorting done in the GH. The cabbage white butterfly haven't discovered my broccolini yet - not sure if it's been too cold for them or if the cloches have done the trick.
i need to give hubby a big hint to bring the ute up to the huge pile of pruning that I left in a prominent position - I suspect they should go out the back somewhere. There's a large pile that we created years ago that the wombats have decided make a good cover, so there are large tunnels under the pile now.
On hols in a gite in the Charente so the only gardening I have done is to dead head the pelargoniums in the window boxes and prune the odd rosemary, sage or thyme plant when I need some herbs.
I gather it has rained quite a bit at home so no doubt I shall spend all next week dealing with rampant weeds and getting the grass back in order in between walking the doglets who will be back on usual routes and routine. They think holidays are like Christmas - all the family together and lots of long walks with new things to explore and treats and cuddles and play.

I pricked out my wallflowers into cell trays that was done indoors, but it's been raining all day need to pick a lot of redcurrants, blackcurrants and gooseberries. Oh and dead head the roses.Repot the chillies.
Clambered about on the Shady Bank persuading Lonicera Graham Thomas not to leap off the fence and climb up into one of the ash trees - secateurs were involved!
Deadheading of bedding plants in pots and roses.
Watering and feeding of courgettes.
Tieing back of autumn raspberries.
Picking of sweet and plumptious dessert gooseberries
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
If the weather clears (raining and generally miserable here) I intend to - deadhead roses, pot up forget-me-not self seedlings, clear out my 'nursery' (brambles growing through stored plants), get digging out unwanted thugs (Lysimachia punctata, vinca and ivies) and plant aforesaid nursery plants. Will let you know how I get on.
