Had to do first aid on my standard rose as the storm last night had caused one of the grafted wotsits to split away from the main stem. Fortunately the branch that was laden with roses fell against my raised bed wall so didn't come off entirely. So it is all taped up now and rose heads removed to ease the weight. Fortunately I have had a lot of enjoyment from the roses and they were starting to go over. I will be investing in better plant supports for next year as don't want to risk losing my standards.
Pat E , thanks for the info , yes it is your winter now , very mild winter this year hear
8-00 pm hear in sunny Lincolnshire sitting outside with a glass of red wine and cigar just had dinner
started tidying up garden , recycling bin halfull so started filling bags with stuff to take to tip , tied up iris , 1 hellbore and grasses bed so far
O/H did some repotting from greenhouse , off to allottment tommrow , lots to do , hopefully another bucket of strawberries for jam , they have been really good
I think it was because it wasn't well rotted. I had two new beds to fill and so I bulked them out with rather a lot of fresh horse manure. But maybe it could have been contaminated. It was free stuff from a kind soul who bags it and puts it on the road side for anyone who wants it.
I'lol post a picture tomorrow. Would be great to get your opinion of the sickly looking peas!
I did some weeding and top dressing with my homemade compost around a bed of succulent plants. A bit more to do tomorrow. Also need to do some weeding in the lawn. Lots of thistles, clover and dandelion growing up among the turf.

Harvested some goodies and then made a lovely tea with them. Smashing day.
Salmon burgers Runny; deeeeelicious!
The new potatoes were out of this world! Results of a little fettle to see if any were ready.
I over manured two new raised beds this year. The tatties don't seem to have minded by my peas, runners and broad beans have been a bit if a disaster.
