Picked the last of the blackcurrants and gooseberries.
I think I am going to dig all the goosegogs out, I only grew them for dad. I get prickled to death, picking them. Of course its been a bumper crop this year.
Topped and tailed now,I'll stick them in the freezer until I find a willing recipient.
Fidget ones , planted gooseberries in allottment , did not realise just how prickly they are , will keep them as it was a present and gooseberries and custard rather nice
A really productive day tidying up hawthorn hedge and trimming ash trees so we can see fields from side conservatory , a bit done in but worth it
took 6 bags of garden waste to tip , as garden bin getting a bit full
Good morning GWRS. Not very much gardening done yesterday - mostly harvesting winter greens for the table. Had a bit of a think about where to plant chitted potatoes, but waiting for Hubby to finish a new bed. We did start it some time ago, but the weather stopped us and now we can't seem to get back to it. We have a neighbour bringing a large bale of old oaten hay that his sheep can't use. Still deciding how to make the best use of it. (7.45am).
You too jo47. I haven't been game to open curtains yet because my poodle is still snoring beside my bed , but it feels overcast today. We don't know when the hay will arrive, so Hubby is already up and dressed in case it gets delivered early. We should hear our neighbour coming, though since it will be on the forks of a tractor. Those bales are huge and very heavy.
potted up some seedlings of Hollyhock which were looking a bit unhappy in the seed raising mix (not surprising), and generally did a tidy up in the GH. The fog has lifted, so is cool, sunny and with a bit of breeze. Hay not yet arrived (11.50am), so I could have lazed a bit longer.
Pat E , recently read about growing stuff in bales of hay , didn't take much notice but I am sure with abit of research on the web you could then use those bales of hay as a growing medium
no gardening to day spent time at allottment , if I get all my paper work ready on Monday ready for Tuesday meeting , mite run lawn mower over lawns
Hello GWRS. Yes I've seen that as well. Trouble is, the bales we got are the large round ones, not the seat sized rectangular ones. I'll post a photo when we get down there some time today. (7.15am) here, and I'm not budging yet. We asked our neighbour for them so that we could fill some washed away area in the back of our property to make it safer to drive out there.
ive got some paper work to get through as well. Tax time is looming.
GWRS. Photos from house, so not very clear. The bales heights can be compared to the goat shelter that we made years ago when we had Angoras. The shelter is high enough to walk in.
my naughty Hubby said to say that he has two big bales (ahem).
we might, just might, have rain today
Both photos are from the bedroom, so you can guess that I'm being lazy today. (9.30am). Better make a move though. I'm feeling guilty, now.

Curtains open, she lifted her head and decided to go back to sleep.
Tried to see if the tractor has left the other side of the river yet, but can't see a darned thing.
No wonder I thought it might be overcast ! No doubt it'll be a brilliant day when the fog lifts.
