Tidied  up the mess I made yesterday, planted Lilac Madame Lemoine, potted on a few seedlings (Lysimachia Beaujolais) and pruned the Wisteria.  Also gardened with my purse, bought an obelisk to go with one I already had and two roses (Claire Austin) to climb up them.

Hi from Kingswinford in the West Midlands
  • yesterday I planted bunches of snow drops, daffodils and put some primroses near the pond.

  • Yesterday I potted up 32 cascading begonias which had been sprouting inside the house, and popped them into my greenhouse.   Now must remember to put the heating on at night!   And I re-located snowdrops which had increased too close to the drive and were now in danger of being run over.   They are just coming into bud, so I hope they will flower.   Also started cleaning and painting pots ready for Spring!   My halo is surely shining!  image

I've moved a hellebore and hopefully transplanted a mullein. And asked some questions on here! image. Not sure if that counts.....

    It all counts Janetimage

Today we cut wild pear, hazel, ash, field maple and something still unidentified  from a Chiltern seeds 'Hardy Trees and Shrubs Mix' at least 20years ago.

Stuffed it all through the shredder, less painful than previous shreddings of blackthorn etc

Hard pruned my very neglected quince tree and made some pea sticks / plant supports with some of the smaller branches. 3 hazel trees & 3 buddleia next week - then it's time to join Nut on shredder duty....

The Claire Austin rose is lovely Yviestevie, quite a vigorous climber and reached the top of my arbour within its first season which surprised me. It's a lovely creamy white with a hint of lemon and the fragrance is good too. Hoping it will tone in beautifully with a tree peony lutea v. ludlowii next door which is also lemony yellow (when and if it flowers!)

Rain stopped play today so I didn't get my new water butt operational after all, which is rather ironic given the weather.  Still, it is warmer today.

    Hi Delboi,

Looks neat and tidy though. Blackberries need sun so suggest you put it on your sunniest fence.  Also the garden would look lovely with wider borders (gets more plants in) and perhaps rounding off the corners (makes mowing easier and gives more scope for planting slightly bigger bushes/plants than you've currently got room for.

You could even hide the compost bins in the corner and plant something bushy in the front!
