Planted up 8 pots and troughs around the house. Replaced pansies, violas and wallflowers with petunias, diascia, euphorbia Diamond Frost and ageratums. Some petunias are the Tumbelina ones, some purple shades and some veined "Reflections".
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Trimmed privet hedge (or pervert hedge as autocorrect wants me to say) along the corner of the plot.
Horrible exhausting task involving a ladder and lots of precarious leaning over while holding heavy hedge trimmers. Has to be my least favourite garden task, but unfortunately an unavoidable one.
"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour".
Found a frog in the garden today even though we don't have a pond. He hopped over to the bog garden so we put a small "pond" in it made from a kind of 4 inch deep plastic tray... thing.
Don't know how he ended up in our garden as it's completely fenced off from the outside world and until today had no standing water.
Oh, and planted out some baby Delphinium Black Knights.
Chelsea was fantastic - got there about 08.30 so had plenty of time to wander around while it was still fairly empty. By 11.00 crowds were 6 deep at all the show gardens. Very impressed with Dan Pearson's garden/bit of nature from Chatsworth - it really looked as if all those rocks and planting had been there for ever; well deserving of Best in Show. Grand Pavilion was as good as ever - loads of gorgeous plants to drool over. Will post some pics next week when I get time.
