Yup, cleaned and refreshed the strawberries, hungry beasts so they got a feed, nearly took my fingers off snatching at it. Put a topping on the tomato's that gets done often through the season the reason they are only half filled at the start, they are all flowering some on more than one truss. Pots cleaned some cutting back, it was lovely, dull but warm after a sunny morning. Hard work at my age though I only feel it when  stop, that's gardening for you.

Glorious day in Kent, image so I got busy re-arranging pots in middle garden until a pleasing effect was achieved then went for the jugular in a patch under tree in main border. Ripped out donkeys old Pinks, improved the awful soil and planted 3 of my 6 Salvia Caradonna to make it look natural. Of course these nursery grown specimens are further ahead than my own versions but look great with the alliums whilst next year they will be a great follow on for late summer colour.

Can anyone tell me what to do with my shop bought Cosmos?  They are 10 inches high and flowering. Do I pinch out or just deadhead?

    Thanks image

Moved some more Geranium x oxonanium 'Dreary Pink' around, for the umpteenth time. Such a boring plant but useful for plugging gaps where nothing else much will grow, or where it would be a waste to buy something specifically for that spot.

Is this the very common one? I have loads of it, so yeah a bit boring. Don't get the "dreary pink" bit...mine are pale pink...or is that your name for them...

pls see page before, Ive not yet sussed out how to quote even tho I've followed instructions.

btw no gardening today. Raining, cool weather. No gh yet, hope for one in the new year...and yesterday realised my new veg plot in more dappled shade than sun. Gutted - tho' my fault, I didn't account for such a large tree canopy and high sun, but I love the trees (approx 30m or so tall) so need to dig a new veg plot for next year. I've given away my prized cauliflower plants, seeds are still seeds...but spuds are on the go so all is not lost!

    ok...got it...finally...I think...bet it doesn't work next time.

  • Things were looking a tad dried out, so I asked 'er Indoors to put out some washing whilst I got on with watering my pots and cleaning the car. Result - rain within 30 minutes!

Planted the pots, including some herbs, on the kitchen terrace. That's all the pots done now. Have quite a lot of rather tatty looking petunias left over.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
