Admired the beds that OH created yesterday! But watching the rugby! Making a wishlist of plants for said new beds.

Much nicer here today than forecast, though the wind was a bit chilly. Got all my potting on done this morning. Then cooked dinner. Then it was feet up watching the rugby with the OH. Really enjoyed both matches, but particularly the first match because I like Johnny Sexton and Leigh Halfpenny (lots) image

Been clearing a weedy patch this week. Want to fill it with shrubs but still a lot to do first.

Then had to go shopping for stuff to repair a leaking hot tap...

...found myself going home with four lovely Hebes (£7.95 each from QD)three packets of 'cottage garden' type seeds and a windowsill propagator!

Wind too cold to do anything once I got home so in for rest of day.

Cleared a large raised planter of strawberry plants which have had their day, replaced the top 1/4 (about 200l) of soil in there with home made compost and used it as a new home for 5 honeyberries ((Lonicera caerulea) which have been growing in 10" pots for a couple of years.  Sowed leek seeds and planted onion sets which arrived this morning into modules in the GH, did some weeding and a bit of pottering but wind was a bit too cold for being outside without doing something active! image

Coppiced a hazel today so have plenty of bean poles for later in the year.  Sowed more seeds in the GH and did a bit more tidying up of last year's perennials.  Spring is definitely here judging by all the new growth I spotted but that wind is still on the chilly side!

Rescued my two elephant "garlic" from the dogs destruction attempts. They're now in large pots where I'm hoping they'll recover (roots quite bashed around). All other efforts aborted!

Potted on 5 delphiniums and 3 achilleas. Put some Slugbuggers stuff around vulnerable plants - doesn't it smell revolting! Dug up some crocosmia and put it on Freegle and then gave up and went in for a cuppa.

Does anybody know what plant nyjer seed comes from? I've got seedlings coming up under the bird feeder which I haven't had before.  They obviously don't like this brand as most of it gets chucked out.
