Tootles congrats. As usual you have all been busy, I might get some weeding done today now that the garden seems to be waking up. I notice that the weeds are always the first to respond to warmer days. I can't really coMcLain. I've had a break from that job since April. all the flowering bulbs are pushing up flower heads, so it's promising to be a colourful spring for us.
Ive been thinking about all my Broccolini leaves. We can only eat so much before the cabbage whites show up. We saw something on TV some time ago where a commercial grower of Kale was making the leaves of kale into nutritious chips and bagging and selling them. I'm wondering if I can dry my Broccolini leaves and keep them for nibbling later. Would be better than potato chips which are heavily laden with fat and salt. thinking, thinking.
GWRS. I had a similar thought. I've just come back in from covering them all up, because I just know they will beat me otherwise. I'm still curious to try the kale /broccolini chips, just to try them. They are apparently very popular at the Melbourne markets.
A good day in garden , tidied green house and move tomatoe hanging baskets and outside tomatoe pots into greenhouse , still got, 2 chilli plants growing well
Sounds productive GWRS. I've got chillies growing too. Looking really healthy. I bought a birds eye chilli plant at a fair and the chap said it will come again next year. Is that right?
Took some cuttings, planted some seeds, dug up some spuds, top dressed my pots, fed the lawn and lots of dead-heading. Really lovely day in the garden.
Tootles , I believe if chilli plant is kept frost free it will grow again next year , personally I treat them as annuals , you have been busy to and it has been a lovely day not as good as yesterday thou
I have over wintered chillies on my kitchen window sill and kept them going 2 or 3 years. After that they get a bit too big and I start again or else I just fancy a change of variety.
I planted 5 each in my summer window boxes this year. Some will come indoors and some will either be binned or have to chance it in the greenhouse.
