Only nipped out this morning to refill the bird feeders and cut down some of the dead stalks off the perennials while it was dry. Yesterday I hacked down a rather large cotinus "Grace" so hope I haven't killed it.  Bit worried also about my lovely rose "Ispahan" which I also had to cut down prior to the new rose arch going up.

Have finally finished the 'big' pruning jobs (trees, large shrubs etc) and now have an absolutely huge pile of branches for shredding. Will be busy tomorrow if it's dry..

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Planted a second hydrangea petiolaris on the long North house wall today. The first is still quite small but I've had it just over a year and it is nicely stuck to the wall.

Planted a few things sat around in pots and found some clover plants lying around that I meant to replant last weekendimage rehydrated them in the pond and I should think they'll be fine...

Sowed my second batch of seeds for this year; some of last month's are getting on for an inch high.image

Also prised a crocus open just for a peek.

Rather a nice day, so decided to bite the bullet and dig up a 4ft x 4ft sq clump of crocosmia and montbretia that I haven't divided since planting almost 5 years ago. image
Crikey it was a mission and a half, don't think I be walking anyway very far tomorrow. image
They are all replanted in a new bed nearer the house. Just need to prep the soil where they were and get the echinacea magnus in, but now its time to find the co-codamol. image

We have had a lot of lovely springs days lately. Finally get a day off and wake up to a garden covered in snow. Pottered around the greenhouse. Everything seems to have doubled in size the last few day. My snakes head fritillaries (in the greenhouse) are about to flower.

Planning on potting up two fruit trees ( a cherry and a plum ) which my dad purchased from Aldi for me.  might nip to the garden centre to buy a couple of big pots for them. Also going to nip to the lovely house that gives away free horse manure from the roadside for my new raised beds....all after a cup of coffee though!

It was a promising start to morning and so I thought I had all the time in the world, of course rain has stopped play. But my cause is a worthy one, I'm going to don the waterproofs and face rain and tide. image

Beautiful photo Caral.  No gardening today, it's hissing down and looks really cold and miserable.  I am planning a visit to the garden centre though.

Wind and rain forecast to be on the way but right now sunny with a bit of breeze, frosty start though. Been in the potting shed sowing seeds in trays for the propagator. So far sown peppers, tomatoes and aubergine, none of which I planned for this year but I got the seeds free with magazines image

Just going to have a rummage through my ordered seeds as there is room for one more tray in the propagator image
