Ooooh Lizzie - I've been doing exactly the same today! And I've just ordered some roses to go on it so am feeling really excited about it. I'm putting a screen of climbing roses right across the bottom of the garden to mask the view of our sewage treatment plant from the house but have only got round to the arch in the middle so far. I hope I get round to completing the rest before the roses arrive....
I dismantled a raised bed, shifted a lot of concrete and rubble from another raised bed, dug it out, lined it with fabric to protect the wood and put the soil back in. Lots of worms doing their thing
The thermometer in the sunshine read +12'C, but in the shade and with the wind's cold edge, it certainly wasn't double figures! However I braved the wind for an hour this afternoon in order to retie and in one case re-stake my very healthy Hellebores (Foetidus). All self sown, they have been happily flowering since before Christmas and a couple are standing proud at 4ft.
Our day started dull and cold but by late morning it brightened up. I started off just clearing the overgrown grass and moss that had engulfed a line of about 15 stepping stones.
As it was still warm I weeded the borders at the front of the house - the sunny side . And then it was still warm and sunny so I tackled a messy area at the side of the new shed and moved one of my two dalek compost bins there. Had to throw away the old inherited stuff that was in it because it was a solid dry lump of twigs and sticks. Next bit of nice weather I will move my 2014 compost to that bin to do it's own thing for the rest of the year and then I can start refilling my 2015 bin!
Thrown my Winter Density lettuce away got mega aphids on it in GH happily other salad stuff okay.
Fed my large Brugmansia in GH it's starting to grow, potted on the small one growing inside already in leaf and potted up the two that have rooted in water.
Sown some coriander in modules reckon it will germinate as the stuff I tipped outside due to aphids is bare rooted and it hasn't died. Plus some cut and grow salad.
Considered starting my shallots off in modules, I have to because the birds play with them if planted directly decided to wait as it's only Feb' and they grow quickly in GH and bed isn't ready for them
Itching to sow and plant other things but think I should wait a couple of weeks.
Paths swept and daleks turned, it's been a lovely few hours.

Sat in the potting shed making tree and shrub guards from a 30 metre roll of weldmesh, let the deer and rabbits eat through that.
plant trees badly and they can survive, no guards and they will die for sure.

Dug up some perennial weeds ( very inspiring)
turned over my own compost bins possibly to early for this time of year for any benefit
planted some crocosmia George Davison bulbs for some summer colours
washed out all my plastic plant pots in preparation for stocking up plants
put the heater on in the greenhouse , made a cup of tea and looked at my garden and wished for late spring
planted out some bulbs
Yes
Potted on my new hellibore 'Slate'
Thrown my Winter Density lettuce away got mega aphids on it in GH

Moved a couple of foxgloves and planted two new clematis. Also lugged a lot of pots and compost about, hence the aching back and shoulders.
Lots of last year's dead stuff cut off but lots more to go
