Oooh that's interesting, thanks Verdun and Hosta.

Where to start with my work in the garden today. Glorious weather and full steam ahead...

PLanted 2 Clematis, 2 climbers, 2 shrubs, 1 sub-shrub, 1 conifer, pruned 1 evergreen shrub and the old growth of 2 herbaceous, tidies patio area, barked all available gaps and between plants. Bagged up composting material making four bags in total.

More tidying...I must say it's looking lovelyimage

I've been very courageous and cut out the big old woody stems of climbing rose Mme Alfred Carrière. She is about 23 years old and I hadn't been able to prune her properly because the deer ate all the new shoots. OH deer fenced the flower garden 2 or 3 years ago so last year I semi pruned Mme AC and she has made new growth so I have been able to saw off the thick old woody stems.

I also pruned climbing rose "The New Dawn", a yellow buddleia and a clematis.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

More digging today but that bed is fully dug, aside from "refining" and raking- it's 4m x 1.5m (ish) and took me four hours over two days. My body is screaming at me!

Funny day out in the garden for me, was out all day but felt I didn't do a lot. Tidied up some branches overhanging the drive, swept up a lot conifer debris from where we had some removed the other week, that was it. Had plans to do loads of other jobs but it got rather dark in the end.

  • Thanks LK, WS of course typical me I cant do any thing by halves I have hypertension during the day but then at night I have sinus bradycardia image.

Got to take the wife to hair dressers tomorrow so I might pop to the GC and buy something to cheer myself up image

Day of heavy drizzle & rain today, so 'gardened' indoors! Prefabricated a new walk-in shelter in the kitchen [OH very understanding], adding mid sections when I get it through 2 right-angle turns & out the back door tomorrow (hopefully), then add plastic cladding overall. *It will need weighting down to avoid blowing about as the previous one, so I've stashed 4 sash weights in the yard ready to attach at each corner. [I may add a 'sky-hook' attachment at the rear apex & fettle onto a nearby hanging basket bracket]. Photos will follow once installed.
