Fishy65, yeah i would transplant them at about 1 to 2 in high, and would put then in the greenhouse as soon as you can, but remember that you will need to heat the gh to minimum of about 12C. You could leave them on the window sill for another while, as long as they don't get too leggy. Frost tonight here in Scotland.
It's best to get them in the GH soon as they will get loads more light than on the window sill, this promotes strong growth.
good luck with them and I am pleased you found the videos useful!
4 days in - no sign of life quite yet... took the lid off earlier to have a quick peek without peering through the condensation and all seems quiet but possibly one or two bits of vemiculite beginning to stir... hopefully tomorrow!
Fishy Northampton too and my allotment greenhouse thermometer shows a maximum of 35degs and a minimum of 3 degs the power of the sun is rising, hurray!
New Allotmenteer - I need to try that, right now I'm turning seedlings around every day. There's one or two an inch high already but others yet to germinate.
Right, back from work, and I can see several seeds beginning to unfurl.
I don't have a fancy propagater with vents. It's a seed tray with modular tray inserts and then a plastic lid on top. So the question is does the lid come off now or do I await some proper green shoots??
Hi Simon just wanted to say I loved ur videos for tomato growing. I'm a newbie and am very much a visual learner and it really helped me on my first batch of both beefsteak and cherry tom variety. Keep up the good work and I shall definitely be asking you for advice with my fruit and veg growing. can I ask did u put the electrics and water systems in your greenhouse yourself. If so is it very difficult as I'm hoping my hubby can do same for me but hes not sure where to start. We have an electric box on wall of house outside.
Hyacinth, thanks for your comments about my videos. . yes I did put the electricity and water systems in the greenhouses myself. However, I have since changed out the sockets I had originally installed ( those shown on tomato videos) with new high quality RCD protected and waterproof sockets, As one of the others showed signs of burning on the socket that was used for a 3 kW heater. You can see the new sockets on my latest video "growing onions with simon part 1", on my channel. Link is

Thanks Simon - Northamptonshire here and some cold nights ahead judging by the forecast.

It never hurts to put some tin foil behind seedlings on windowsills - increases the light significantly and helps them grow straighter...

Bf206, I would keep the cover on untill you see seedlings up to an inch or so high.

If you you are in any doubt please get a qualified electrician to do the electrics.
