Seems you are very bored indeed.

I have a lot more respect for the people who regularly post on here always ready to help, than I do for someone who uses a forum for the personal amusement. Could you try Big Brother for that perhaps?

  • I love looking in on the forum....only have one friend who is interested in gardening so it's good to share experiences and helpful tips with all of you. I have learned a lot too and when I haven't known how to do something beneficial to a poor plant in my care I have you all to help me out. It doesn't take long to glance down through the list and pick out what interests me.....after all that digging....weeding.....potting..... planting .....pricking out .....sweeping.....tidying......etc a girl has to sit down sometime and there's nothing on the telly these days that grabs me.....so...........Thanks Cowslip for starting this I have loved reading all about what you all do.

Well, Cowslip isn't a coward, turned up again after all. I've loved reading this thread too, but original question was rather provocative, almost insulting.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Think another WUM tho Lizzie.

Cowslip has been a member of the forum since 2012, I found it strange that he/she didnt come back before though. Maybe posted in haste?

The problem now is that we are all on edge with MA  so the slightest strange post and we think he's sock puppeting.

We had the same thing the year before with BB,  things will all go back to normal soon, we are a lovely bunch, as Cowslips thread has proved.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • I love this thread because it challenges ,and the forum enables a faceless virtual world to comment. We will never meet in this world probably .

I get the impression that a lot of folks use it as a comfort blanket, loneliness is the new health fear, and it is only when like meets(on the web) like understanding is reached and  many people's lives made more fuller.

So is this post subject overall fair and enlightening ? yes IMO

I am with Verdun, some people have their feet in their mouths before they open them and Cowslip may just have said what she or he was saying without thought of how it would send. The unity displayed by all those who wrote on this thread must have given the person food for thought, talk about fix bayonets and charge Cowslip must be cowering in a fox hole now.

N.V. what you say is true, a couple of my neighbours often tell me how lucky I am the drive full of cars as there always seem to be family visiting. One have no family and the other has family away, I say yes nice but they eat all my biscuits and drink all my tea, there is a price to pay.

I might have been a bit rash when I posted yesterday myself, though as a long-term forum admin elsewhere, there is a distinct feeling about the original post and second post to me.

Everyone is right though, plenty of positives came out of it. image

I joined the old Beeb site early in 2002 when there were less than 200 people posting on it. Sadly most of the originals have disappeared into the ether (or Faceache).

These days I come and read this stuff when I have to stop gardening. My back is so bad now that I cannot stand up for more than 30 minutes. This gives me something to do while the pain subsides, then I can go back out there again.
