Yes Gazanias are amazing but some people do not like the way they close up when the sun goes in. They are such a brilliant flower and so long flowering that I think they are worth it. None of my fuchsias came with names (like a lot of my roses) as they were bargain parcels. But that is a beauty. Lots more buds to open yet. Lovely to hear from you Lyn.
I have a blackthorn bush which I prune rigorously to keep in its place and get good growth as it is there to attract brimstone butterflies which it does. i get two broods a year. The thorns are vicious so beware. If you are putting it in a hedge it will keep out intruders. Sloes grow wild round here - in fact mine was a present from the birds! Your canna will give you great pleasure.GWRS. it needs shelter in the winter but Tenby does have mild winters usually. Lovely part of the world.
Lovely bright sunny morning with not a cloud in the blue sky but the forecast isa for rain after eleven so must get up the garden quickly and leave the household chores for later. My neighbours went home happy with their booty especially as I added a punnet of tomatoes each from the conservatory. They did not look scratched or injured in any way so must have sensibly taken their time to be careful in an unknown wilderness! No doubt they will now be busily preparing it all for their freezers. One lady I gave a basket of Bramleys to last year told me triumphantly in May this year she was about to use the last boxful from her freezer for apple crumble. It is lovely to know they are being eaten and enjoyed for months after being picked.
Well the rain did arrive as predicted but I did manage to pick in the ripe plums and a bowl of rose petals for pot pourri before it did. It is not heavy as yet so do noy expect much in the waterbutts if it stays this way.
Ready for shower and bed now, Marion, so I'll write more tomorrow. Lucky you with the rain. Got the all clear from doc today with diabetes 11, so that's good.
It is Pat. I was cleared of Diabetes 2 after 50 years of being on a diabetic diet and eating at seven, one and seven after the sugar stayed high after the birth of my first child and it was like getting out of prison having the freedom to eat when it suited my work schedule! Te doctor put it down to my good living - lots of fruit and veg. and exercise.

You have some lovely flowers growing there Marion, is that a Velvet Crush fuchsia, there are so many now all very similar.
Those dwarf cosmos are a nice useful plant for tubs and the bees love them. I can't believe those Gazanias are still going, aren't they wonderful.

Two of my neighbours are up my garden picking blackberries, bramley apples and plums for their freezers so I have left them to it and taken pics.

Yes, Marion. We only eat meat about twice a week now. It has made a big difference. It also suits my pleasure in producing much of our vegetables.
