Wet wet wet in the northwest so going looking at bathroom mirrors today as we have been re-decorating the bathroom, what's the weather like in Bristol Marion? image

Wet here too but the garden needed it badly.  Lilac in full bloom now and laburnum opening its yellow rain and the tamarisk just about to make me gasp with its beauty.  I have apple blossom towering over kerria blossom towering over primulas in full bloom - I cannot remember ever seeing such floriferous sights in my garden at bluebell time .  There are even hellebores still covered in blooms.

My friend of the tiny garden has been converted to rhododendrons on his garden visiting holiday - he has said for years they do nothing for him .  Here are his pictures from his last two gardens Ken-Caro (first two) and Lukesland near Ivybridge, and back home in his own tiny garden where he even manages to have a greenhouse.

It's lovely seeing the gardens coming to life after a good poor down of rain : )

Sun is shining in Bristol so raincoat and gardening boots on after lunch and weeding in my gravel paths on the cards as do not want to step on the wet soil.  Plenty needing done on the raised beds and visitors for tea expected so rest of day sorted.  I have made aa whole lot of beef mince and tomato and onion pasta sauce with lots of basil in which with pasta can stretch for visitors too.  the house smells delicious but i bet the garden smells even better after the rain and it being so warm.  i love lilactime.

Better day forecast for tomorrow gardening wise.  I did my quota of weed pulling from the gravel paths and tidied half of one raised bed, just 7 and a half to go.  It was very showery however so gave up in the end.  the rain has opened up loads of yellow buds on my large tree peony and made weeding much easier.

An idyllic day for gardening here in Bristol.  warm, dry till 9pm and brilliant sunshine, no wind as yet.  I should be able to get through my long daily list and a few extras as well .

The neighbour's cat who usually follows me round on my morning tour of the garden , hoping I will disturb a mouse for him to chase no doubt, got fed up waiting for me today as there were so many new things emerging like the London Pride for me to admire,, that he started before me and we met as he was coming down the middle path while i was going up it.  He refused to budge and I found myself saying to a CAT  "OK I'll go this way"!  I must get out more, though it would be a terrible wrench to turn my back on my garden today when the little  Holly Blue butterflies are everywhere.  I have done two jobs on my daily list already even before making the bed and washing the dishes which to me is proof I am back to normal healthwise.  I have my priorities straight once more.
