Lovely pics, the heather is a perfect foil for the chaenomeles - such pretty blossom. Those snowdrops will keep you busy.
I'm afraid the light faded quicker than I expected so no pics, will record my efforts tomorrow. I found that I just went from one job to another including moving a large potted rambler rose back against the new fencing, then reorganised the 'nursery corner' after replanting hardy geraniums. Clearing up the debris, sweeping round, bagged twiggy bits for composting - phew!
So good to be out in the fresh air
Planning to relax and watch 'Causal Vacancy' on bbc one. Perfect end to the day.
Awww TY Wintersong. It is a prickly job pruning it! Bizzie B you have been living up to your name and me too as i am never happier than when I am gardening.
Take your pick, 1Runnymede1 - their variety, everyone different like people themselves, their appealing form and colour in the midst of drab winter, their dependabilty once established, their promiscuity, the lack of competition in the winter. The ease with which you can propagate them too. Probably as many reasons as there are people who grow them. My love affair with them started 61 years ago.on my honeymoon. I was married on Feb.27th and a snow storm started on our journey down to East Lambrook where we were to honeymoon. On the many stops going I spotted snowdrops in the hedgerows and my new husband valiantly cleared paths so I could see the snowdrops pushing their heads through the snow as he had to carry me being devoid of stout boots. I expect many of them are still there.
Hi Marion, your hubby sounds like a real gentleman. Your flowers are looking lovely as usual, looks like good weather tomorrow for gardening .
i went to the garden centre yesterday I bought three English mint herb £1.49each, they will have lilac flowers on them in summer plus rats don't like mint plants and peppermint
Sadly my husband passed away 26 years ago but flowers can still remind me of him. On our first date he took me on a tour of Bristol to the harbour and the Suspension Bridge and popped into a florists in the Centre to buy me a corsage of a gardenia. That scent is unforgettable. I have apple mint and variegated mint as well as peppermint. I did get a half hour's gardening done today in the afternoon and tomorrow and Wednesday are supposed to be good here according to the weathermen. My sister in New Brunswick is enduring terrible snow and temperatures of -25 with the wind chill. I do not think I could function in such conditions.
When all these clumps join forces Bizzie B then you will smell them on dry days! I must have a look at my hellebores today when the frost goes. But the sky is blue and lots of sunshine so should be able to get outside soon. Your new border is looking good.
