That's interesting Fidgetbones. I wonder if it's my iPad camera or as you say, our climate making a difference. I might have a look tomorrow in daylight to see if my photo is accurate or not.

Just come in for a coffee and a piece of Xmas cake (with lots of apricots and cinnamon in it is particularly delicious this year).  It is such a beautiful day for gardening - bright winter sun ad no wind at all.  I have broken the back of the buddleia pruning and should get the tall roses pruned before the high winds hit us tomorrow.

Happy New Year to you too GWRS.  It is very windy this morning in Bristol but already 13 degrees so very mild still.  dry at the moment but rain forecast for about 10 o'clock so doubt if I will be going out in the garden today.  I shall deadhead and water in the conservatory though.  It is quite lovely in there with hundreds of violas in bloom and pelargoniums flowering their socks off.  The new greenhouse heater actually switched on last night so the temperature must have dropped to 5 degrees.

  •  Good morning Marion, hope that you are well .

I must say that some of my pelargoniums are looking beautiful too.....really is a a cheering sight!

Abit windy here today , on opening the bedroom blinds I was greeted by the sight of some very 'sorry for themselves' looking horses in the field , all 3 were huddle together under a tree.....always a sign it things to come!!

After a thread yesterday I thought that I might learn about hellebore breeding, have you any experience of trying this?

Have a good day and keep warm and dry.

No Flowers I haven't but do find my hellebores in the garden seed themselves around and have not pulled any out yet that I don't like!  I am sure detailed instructions are on the internet and you could give it a go.  The yellow ones usually sell for high prices!

  • OK, thanks Marion

Rain arrived as predicted but not very heavy yet.  I had fun with my camera after tidying the conservatory.

Good afternoon Marion, just sat on my dinner break reading your forum, loving the photos and that cake looks yummy.

It's been raining really heavy this am and the wind is very strong, what's it like in Bristol? : )

So glad you got the story.  It is true about second childhood you know!  A duckpond is forming outside my kitchen as we are having extremely heavy rain now.  I think it is a day for reading Xmas books.
