GG, I think you meant my asters, not dahlias. Which brings me to the new name for asters which is so difficult to remember - very long , begins with an s - that is as far asI can remember. I think they will always be asters and Michaelmas daisies to me.
Another lovely day in Bristol today and forecast to last till Tuesday or Wednesday. I beam with delight every time I go up the garden and see how far advanced my plans for next spring and summer are as well at marvelling at the polyanthus, kerria etc who think it already id next spring and the way the summer flowers are just carrying on the display. Pat the story of your water supply reminds me of my sister when she lived in Edmonton in Canada where they pumped their water from the lake bordering her acres of land. Difficult to get enough for washing!
Marion, thank you so much for introducing me to the Secret Gardening Club. I have now had two orders from them. absolute bargains! big healthy plants, some of them even have buds on. free postage as well. I wonder how they can make any profits with the amount they charge! I now look forward to their email on Friday!
So glad for you flowerlover2! Yes they are lovely plants and very environmentally friendly people too. I have worked myself to a standstill this afternoon and took some pics including some in the conservatory where i noticed one of my hundreds of spring bedding plants, a viola, has a flower open!
Yes, those dahlias are still going strong on the kitchen table. a fb friend who grows lots of dahlias for show told me the florist flowers are sprayed with a strong potash solution which seals the stems and makes them last longer in the vase as the flowers keep on growing even if the leaves have withered so that is why they had two heads! I planted out new (electric blue) pentstemons today and tomorrow a new tree and agastaches will be planted. Everything is growing still and the soil is very warm.
Another lovely day has dawned in Bristol so more planting today. Two more violas are flowering in the conservatory, both the same colourway as the first one. Quite exciting when you buy sale plants of the nursery choice as you watch to find out what they have sent you!
A touch cooler today as 14 degrees is forecast as tops but warmer again tomorrow and still dry and no wind so more weeding and planting in my perfume garden planned. There are ten violas showing their colour now and some are definitely yellow so I have been sent a mixture. I have sent for three types of primula, two of them candelabra type on offer from the Secret Gardening Club this week and a blue and white salvia. Primulas do very well indeed in my garden so these should look good edging the new bog garden.
Ho Marion I love all of them photos your flowers look gorgeous and colourful, it's a bit foggy this am so hoping it will clear soon so I can potter in our garden : )

Took out my camera and experimented with the close-up mode as the misty weather was just right for romantic pictures.
