Well done with those SPs, Yviestevie......I'm never quite sure whether or not to respond to messages starting in with a general 'Hi Folks' opener.....I would like to hear other opinions, of course.
Well, as you ask, Yviestevie, I would suggest that you water as most people do with overwintered stuff.....*that is only water on a mild day, then don't water again until the pots are quite dry. The water uptake will not be the same as it would be in the growing season.
Congratulations especially on achieving germination in 12 days, this would indicate that they have been kept at the right temperature.
Keep them as cool as you can hereon, and definitely no coddling.
*Do avoid watering at all during frosty weather, as the roots will be encased in an ice block.
Dont coddle David, they are in a cold greenhouse and I am keeping the door open until frosts are forecast. Had to shut it during the windy weather but all is calm now here.
DD - Seems too early & too warm maybe the problem. Not sure of the expected temperatures where you live. Something around 10c is best for germination, but they do need cold conditions after that to stop them romping away.
planted spencer sp's wed, they're i mini gh zipped up now for winter, hope they do ok, i'll plant more in march hope to have hundreds june-sept fingers crossed!!

Hi Folks, sweet peas have all germinated, Hurrah. Took around 12 days so a bit quicker than expected.
Not grown them from seed before, so if there is anything I should be doing now please let me know.

Hi David, just wondered how often you water sweet peas once they have germinated.

Thanks David, has gone a bit colder today, but week end forecast is 17 - 18 degrees. Might have to find a cold corner for them.

Hello , I am going to sow some sweet peas and leave them in the greenhouse but wondered how deep the pots need to be ?
