  • Of course Hosta, real paper - enough to line the budgie's cage for the rest of the year, and give him something to read image

We don't have a budgie image

I don't think even the paper version is very absorbent.image

Looks like I'll be on my own at Christmas too, but as I'm (a) a devout atheist and (b) fairly self-sufficient I'm not too bothered.... but if there are any others out there in gardening land who want to get together, do get in touch.  Big nosh, wood fire and lots of telly.  Walk on the beach if fine.

There's a large pudding in the cupboard and if I eat it all myself I shall get even fatter.

I actually like Christmas but I hate staying up for New Year. Friends kept inviting me to parties that I didn't want to go to after OH died. Just wanted to go to bed and read my book like any other night.

Jo - I can't add anything to what's already been said, but I'll be here for some of Christmas day on my own too, so feel free to chat or rant - whichever you need. I may have Quality Street for dinner if the mood takes me. The beauty of that is that there's no washing up. image

I'll keep you some - as long as you don't steal my favourites   image

I'll be walking too as I'm off work for a week at C'mas. I bought new crampons so I'll be testing them out image

On a more serious note, my youngest daughter is experiencing a bit of the same issue too as she doesn't want to go to her Dad's on Christmas day. Not because of her Dad, but she doesn't like quite a  lot of his family as they keep telling her what she should be doing with her life. Not what you need at eighteen. I don't want her to be uncomfortable, so a delicate conversation with her dad may be needed. image

they do a nice charity sea dash on Dec 25th ( see what I did then ? image ) to which we shall be heading if the weather's half decent.

BL - I hate New Year too. Just another day as far as I'm concerned image

I think people mean well, but if you want to be on your own they should respect that choice. You can be lonely in a room full of people, yet never lonely on your own. I know that only too well.

Hosta - what does that involve? Are you skinny dipping....image
