Lily I think worries like this can affect us more at times, not enough to throw us into 'survival' mode where we seem to cope with anything life throws at us, but enough to cause a lot of upset and worry. Moscow is an incredible city with wonderful people who have faced many bad situations in the past, I'm sure your family will be welcome and safe there.
Sorry if Ive not been around much lately but have had quite a few problems with Mom and the hospital. Whilst she was awaiting a decision about what to do re amputating her foot she had a heart attack, I wasnt due to see her on that day, my brother was due to go, but didnt, and never told me. The hospital failed to noticy me and also didnt tell me that they decided to carry out a procedure and insert stents to improve her circulation and blood flow. When I went in to visit her she looked awful and the lady in the next bed said mum had had an operation that morning and wasnt feeling well. As I only knew about the proposed amputation I thought they had carried it out and not told me despite having direct instructions to speak to me before carrying out any procedures so that I could prepare mum. After all she is 93 in Feb with a very weak heart, kidney problems and is diabetic (amongst other things). I'm not going to go into the discussions I have had with various people at the hospital, it would take all day.
Since then she has had another heart attack and they are having problems getting her potassium levels down. They sent her back to the home today and I still dont know what they are going to do about her foot. At the moment I've decided to wait until after Christmas before tackling them again. I dont have the strength for it at the moment.
Sorry to hear about everyhone elses troubles. Especially yours Lily, even though everyone tells you that they will be OK (and I'm sure they will be) It's hard when they are so far away. I worry when they are away on holiday and cant wait for them to be back so I really don't know how I would manage if they lived a really long way away.

If only the London underground stations looked like the Moscow ones!

Much as I love Richard Serra's sculpture at Liverpool St Station, I think we've still got a way to go

Oh Yvie, I'm so very sorry to hear your mum is so poorly. I'm speachless about the hospital
my very best wishes love and hugs to you and your family. Hope your mums health improves and things get sorted re operation. Xxx
Yvie stevie, that is awful. I wish I could say I was surprised, but I'm not. Communication in hospitals seems to be a lost art.
Certainly, the hospital seemed to have written my father off at 85.
Queens medical centre in Nottingham, has just given my great aunt sylvia a pacemaker. She's 99. Should be good for another five years then.
Yvie - it's just one worry after another. ((Hugs)).
Fidget - I will be thinking of you and your family having such a sad time when the rest of the country seems to be celebrating.
