Thank you Punkdoc, I really hope so. She has been through so much in the last 12 months. On 11th of November it will be a year since her husbands sudden death. And she has been through so much ever since.
Can I just say how moved I am in reading these posts about Alzheimers. It is clearly an awful illness and seeing a loved one fade away in front of your eyes is something I can't begin to imagine.
I just think you're all amazing in the way you cope, I take my hat off to each and every one of you.
Thank you all for the hugs even a virtual hug is comforting. In the rush through Hospital August quite a few of the nurses and sisters gave me a hug after examination, after the op in a private room next to the nurses station if they had a few minutes they would come in and chat, even the cleaners, it lifts you no end.
Verdun it never goes away, my daughters were packing black bags for charity and I was unpacking them I still wanted Joan around. There is no point in telling those suffering they are wrong about anything they are not in our world but some distant in time world, Joan could still sing the words to those old songs I played for her. Advice I would give is never raise your voice ever no matter how frustrated, never say no, and never say they are wrong. Lay out all the old pictures, play the music they once knew so well and play Video's of the old musicals and films, Fred and Ginger went down well.
