Yeah i would like some nice flowers also. Im gonna go to a few garden centres today and try pick up some nice clematis and honeysuckle
I remember my mum had the honeysuckle when I was a child and the fragrance reminds me of that
Also like fuscia but im a bit of a researcher when it comes to things like gardens and plants and i intend to start at the back fence and work my way forward.
I'm just starting project now so i will try post a pic of the space i have to work with
Im the opposite Mick and its really got me into trouble in the garden as there is just stuff allover! Freckles is lovely, so is jingle bells, lots of choice, have a good day shopping
I am wondering why freckles and jingle bells wernt suggested in other posts i have read online? Do they grow slower? Are they as large or can i grow a freckles and jingle bell together? Haha question after question.
Armandii has the most beautiful large glossy leaves, such a nice plant, and spot on for what you want.
The others are nice, but i think they are grown more for their pretty flowers as although the leaves are nice, they are similar to most other things, i think the fact that we forgot about them probably says it all!
I was just reading about people that plant 2 clematis in the same hole with great success (particularly 2 different flowering times)
I do want the screen of an amandii bekkie but would have liked other colourful flowers intertwined by using say a montana but as i have no experience with what the results would be all i can do is keep asking
I have one 3ft x 8ft trellis which isn't a screen so a montana could go on that maybe
I think I would avoid montana if you could find an alternative Mick - put montana on the bottom of your shopping list. It is very pretty with lovely flowers in the spring but soooo thuggish.
Mick if you want to see the montana pics, pm your email
Mick there is nothing to stop you growing a mix of anything you fancy, you just need to be careful that they dont get swammped especially when little as they will die, i would probably say plant the colourful whatever where you are putting the honeysuckle just to give it a bit of a chance to grow big enough to compete
You could also grow annuals through the armandii each year, cobea is nice and vigorous, sweet peas etc, it also allows you to have something different each year

Could they just be watching the birds? I can stand and stare out my kitchen window for ages just watching them
