Lovely, we went to bluebell woods near us when they were out, I have floral bunting up in daughter's room and had some made with stars stripes sailboats and initial 's' for son's fancy some in kithen seen some navy with little stars on ...maybe dining room...cushions cream with pink roses
Oh I'm well jell now! As no real bunting indoors The navy one sounds lovely with the stars. Where did you see it as my friend would especially like as she loves the emma bridgewater stars range Cushions sound perfick
Picked sweet peas today which smell gorgeous, my favourite scent I think, no company can replicate it
Hi All your houses sound lovely with bunting and pretty cushions. BM hopefully Beau will grow out of running off with cushions soon ! Mind one of ours is 10 and still has a thing for socks ! I gave up pretty cushions when I got with the OH who had 7 dogs ( bit extreme I know ! He got carried away rescuing ) and I already had 3 dogs. So a very busy house and why I've given up on pretty throws and cushions. Beau looks lovely by the way, how old is he ? Hope your dream to move to France one day comes true. I'll try and put a picture on, not done it before so not 100% I can manage it. The pic is of the blue bells in the wooded area in the garden. I was over the moon when they all started coming up as they've always been a favorite.
Hi DL it's difficult to know where to start. And sorry to BM for semi hijacking this thread with so much talk of France Not really living the dream, yet. As many English people who come over and need to make a living will tell you, the first few years are hard. I'd advise very careful financial planning, try to be as fluent in French as possible before you come, especially if you need to work. Personely I'd move to an area with a good expat community especially if your thinking of being a garden designer. The reason I say this is the French, not all of course but in general, don't employ English people to do work for them. They employ French people. This also seems the case with a range of businesses we know. Although not nesseccarily gites. With regards to running a gite there are alot more gites than customers for them. I do know of people who have come over to run gites, not made money, sold up and gone home. Or become estate agents. Although I also have a friend who has a very successful gite. It's high end, large, with in ground pool and large garden. More than anything I'd say proceed with caution. Research everything thoroughly. A good place to start is Angloinfo, there is a site for each region ( I think there is ? ), there is certainly one for Poitou Charente. The discussion page is a good place to ask questions. If your thinking of setting up in business find out what you would need to register as. Autoentrepenure or entreprise individual as the difference in the financial implications are massive. Also France has a lot of regulations regarding qualifications needed to advertise a service. A Belgium friend of ours wanted to assist people with letters and phone calls but as she wasn't qualified they wouldn't let her. France is the home of paper work and regulations. Sorry if you know alot of this already. And I do hope it all runs smoothly for you and you can live the dream. As it is a lovely country to live in and French people are on the whole very nice. One thing I love is how respectful and polite everyone is.
As for Corination st - you can get full UK telly, even sky, just a case of having a satilite dish pointing the right way. And you can get your full Tesco / Asda / sainsburys shopping delivered. There's various companies that cover various regions, not sure about midi Pyrenees though. So very helpful when missing cheddar cheese and dairy milk chocolate. Details of these can be found on angloinfo.
Hope that helps and sorry again for hijacking the thread ! Please don't hesitate to ask any more questions.
Hi Beaus Mum and Rosemummy, Im also a vintage, country, shabby chic fan. I moved from a modern house and gave most of my expensive modern furniture to my daughter. I have now replaced it all with ebay finds, local paper ad bargains and rescued from skip items, I did by quite a bit from the previous owners of my house. I live in a house that used to be a large double fronted victorian house that has quite a bit of georgian design in it so high ceilings, cornice and ceiling roses and I was lucky that most of the original features are still in place. The house was owned by an old lady who sold off quite a bit fo the surrounding land which was built upon and then split her house into two and gave the smaller half to her son. Glad she did, otherwise I couldnt have afforded to buy it. I can sew but have loads of projects I havent got around to yet. I have crocheted a large coloured throw for the conservatory and made loads of cross stitch I especially like recreating old fashioned designs. Ill take some photos and post them when I get chance.

yvie your house sounds not unlike ours, not double fronted, but a Victorian townhouse, all original features intact, all furniture 2 nd hand except daughters bed and son's cot! I love going into antique/ salvage places but don't get to do it much at the mo, I really want 2 stone benches at the mo for front and back gardens, must get to salvage yard, only 10 mins away but I couldn't take littiles so never get there, I too have a cushion fetish, got a lovely church pew in dining room full of lovely ones from charity shops
Aaarrrghhh flipping iPAD hadn' t finished! Next thing I want to do is distress and paint grey all wood furniture in son's room( he doesn't t sleep in there yet, in with me and daughter was til 2 so not expecting him to move out yet! ) I enjoyed the great interior design programme, the one who won had a paint roller with cow parsley on it and I looked and looked online, would love one of those, ooh, could get v excited about interiors too, not that you' d guess to look at our house, we have only been here18 months
There was some gorgeous bedding in Morrison's today, never bought bedding from Morrisons before but it looked like Cath Kidston style, all pretty, flowery and girly.....don't think OH would be impressed though
i have to steady on a bit with flowers for our bedroom, though got cream and duck egg blue, which is one of my very favourite colours, reminds me of sea and sky and fresh air
