..if this is something of a tattoo appreciation thread, and I'm not sure that it is, as yet..but if so my post will be seriously out of order.....

...I loathe tattoo's...I simply can't stand the things...I work in retail and serve many people every day and more and more are simply covered from head to toe... even old people...I mean at their age?.. what's with everybody?...I can't understand it..there's something going on with people I think, in so many walks of life, and we might include internet forums in this,...that sets out to seek attention....and to be perfectly blunt, and this might be offensive and I would be sorry about that...I think they make people look filthy dirty...some look as though they've had black ink scrawled all over them...urgh!...

..however, the one highlighted in this thread by the young lady is pretty enough...but if people have to have them, then I would rather they were kept out of sight...

..of course, some might say the same about my greying hair....

All I have to say is if you don't like it look away because what people do with their own bodies is absolutely NO concern or interest of yours.

I wasn't doing anything to get attention. I was simply curious to see what other art people may also have, because unlike you I appreciate the scrawls and scribbles that adorn a person's body.

Maybe I'm just not judgmental about how people look. I'm glad of that.

Well, I'm sitting firmly in the fence on this one and can see it from both sides.

I think SP's tattoo is beautiful and truly a work of art. However, there are people that maybe don't take quite as much care when having a tattoo and yes it does just look like they need a good scrub, but that by no means goes for everyone and is a bit of a sweeping generalisation to be honest. I work with a lady that has loads, I mean loads of tattoos, she has them all covered at work (in fact I never even knew she had tattoos until we were on a night out) and she is one of the nicest people I have worked with, my opinion of her didn't change when I realised she had tattoos.....she too wear them with pride and they are works of art and meaningful.

Never judge a book by it's cover I say image

I don't even care if people hate them! So long as they don't take the holier than thou attitude of "I don't like them, so hide them for my benefit you attention seeking so and so"

I feel the same way when people say fat people should cover up their skin when it's hot and thin people should go eat a burger.

Not your body, not your place to tell someone what to do with it.

    *shrugs*

I wasn't aiming for fights on here. Just a discussion, even from people who don't like them, and maybe find some, I hate to use the phrase, "alternative", types.

I'm too afraid of pain to have one and some I've seen are very crude and ugly, but if you look on Google there are some gorgeous ones. I prefer the more discreet ones, like a dandelion seed head with the seeds blowing away, and some pretty butterflies.

I can honestly say I have no problem with tattoos whatsoever.Body art is found in many different cultures throughout the world and throughout human history. The Celts used body art created using woad which left a bluish colour. Its nothing new and nothing SweetPea need hide in my opinion image

..don't take it personally....it wasn't aimed at you in particular... and you're quite right it's nothing to do with me..fortunately...but we are entitled to an opinion on it... it's also difficult to ignore when people are standing in front of you, having a conversation....

..perhaps I should clarify..I don't judge people by it..that would be absurd...what they do with their bodies is nothing to do with me.. but when someone covers themselves in black ink, of various designs and exposes their bodies for everyone to see...then yes it looks attention seeking and dirty to my eyes and I'd prefer, given the choice, not to see it.. that's just my opinion and nothing more.... no need for anyone to take it to heart...

...I meet some really nice people every day with tattoos'.... but I won't be forced to like what they have chosen to do no more than I would force anyone to like my garden.... and a lot wouldn't I can assure you of that....lol...

...do take care...and enjoy your tattoo's...

    I think it's a culture thing (with a small c)...

In some walks of life it seems odd if someone doesn't have tattoos and people are faintly surprised if someone is against them.

I have deliberately covered mine on some occasions to avoid offence or when it doesn't seem appropriate to be flaunting my individuality, funerals and around staunchly religious people for example. Whether I do that because I'm thoughtful or because of a secret shame really doesn't matter in the long run. I consider it evasive action.

I don't particularly like to see someones body completely covered in tattoos, and I do mean covered...face head etc.. but its nobody elses business. Their body so its up to them.

I've often thought maybe a tiny one on my foot,.....a daisy or something........but i don't like needles at the best of times lol, so there's noway I'd have one done...what a wimp image

Some are quite pretty  tho....yours  is very pretty sweetpea.image
