So  sorry folks, seems like the internet connection disappeared, (again and no notification), so these are very strange photos and some missing. They looked ok when I checked. Will try later

That garden specialises in Michaelmas Daisies. Interesting to see it now, before they come out, I'd only seen photos of when they are out - stunning. Never been though.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Yes, this area is where the main collection of the Aster novi- belgii group (traditional michaelmas daisies) are displayed

image it is a garden worth seeing again Busy-Lizzie, not least to see how the taller Asters are planted to form hedges for  the different beds.

    Close by the long border

Here, by the berberis hedges, are autumn coloured  hydrangeas, including panniwhatits!  Several Hydrangea quercifolia variety (oak leaf)

All looked good in the dappled shade

We visited a lovely garden, not far from Eastbourne, back in June. I think I forgot to mention it. It's attached to a nursery called Marchants Hardy Plants. Chicky has just mentioned it in the Hello Forkers thread.
