The day I visited they were preparing for a weekend of events for local craftspeople. Now that would be something else to see - next year ? In the diary
Thanks chicky 'blown away' says it all. Still spinning with ideas.
Just seen your photos of Wisley, and the Oudorlf influence in the beautiful deep glasshouse border. Impressive. At this rate I will be digging up all my lawn for borders!
Those college walls show the plants off beautifully, nicely angled shots good colour combinations.
Yes, you could Woody essentially swathes of one colour/one plant backed by grasses, curve a bed and repeat with other plantings, link with colour or type of grass. Differing heights of each. Soil prep important, not necessaryily full sun all day.
Nut and I went to a garden in Peterborough today. It was a real lesson in what can be done with a smallish suburban garden. I think it was about 28m long and 8 or 9m wide.
Apart from some lovely planting and a large circular lawn, they had so many seating areas. This is the main table on the terrace.

Oh Bizzie and Chicky wonderful pics, thank you for sharing
Bizzie you said on shabby chic thread about liking the prairie planting and think you need to start digging a wider border to get creating
Please keep me posted on how you get on and what you decide on
I love looking at Prairie gardens.... not sure if I could grow one?

An arbour with a grapevine and rustic bench.
A table and chairs in front of a weeping willow.
A sunken area with ferns.
A curious cucumber
An artisan crafted fire basket.
They still managed to create a spacious feel.
....and had a great selection of cakes
It's a long way from your place Philippa.
and we're going to West Acre gardens next Saturday, that would set you drooling.
