We wanted to see a garden near Worcester last week, but it had closed to the public 5 years ago although it was still on Google. So we thought we'd go to Spetchley Park, but it was Monday and the garden was closed. image Went and wandered round Tewkesbury instead.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Oh no that's a shame! If you ever come this way again, I'd love a cuppa tea!

Here is a garden we visited in France on Sunday. Just one pic as it's late and I'm off to bed. May send more later.

huntington desert garden pasadena ca-world of wonders

  • Hello, I went to West Dean Gardens, near Chichester, with a friend recently, and was very impressed. Sorry, but no pictures as my technology doesn't permit.

After a visit to their very nice restaurant, we concentrated on the  walled gardens which enclose a fruit garden, vegetable garden and a flower cutting garden. Lots of restored Victorian greenhouses contain exotics, orchids, pelargoniums, fuchsias  and the famous chilli collection.

Outside in the large grounds there is  the best stone pergola I have seen( Harold Peto),300 ft. long. A sunken garden,a spring garden, a wild garden, borders etc. There is also an arboretum and parkland walk  for those who have the time for a longer walk.

I was very impressed by the beauty and tranquility of the gardens, and by the attention to detail. Everything was well maintained. Well worth a visit.

more of the huntington-150 acres with 18 different gardens-what enormous wealth and a century of effort can do.

lizzie- the extremely formal victorian parterre contrasted with the lush exuberance of the trees and shrubs is one of my favorite garden looks-great picture.
