I feel I'm standing still here you all have so much growing!!!
Doing all the routine jobs, forking out loads of white roots and adding more manure, building the beds up for planting. Getting a strimmer this week to keep the paths and a larger area tidy. Not digging any more beds until autumn.
Peas, mangtout and runner beans are growing well, will pot on soon and they will be the first to be planted come May (weather permitting!)
Checked on the allotment early today , cooler. Had a look round and see several plots dug over but not planted, some still covered.
Concentrated on plot for courgetts and cutting bed - can't decide what to grow, want to bring the pollinaters in and have companion planting.
Right, off to read your posts properly, I'm sure to find more ideas and advice good to be back!
Thank you for your post Zoomer, it was very useful. Hope you are feeling brighter.

I went to the allotment last Saturday to net the peas and water some plants and my 2yr old kept screaming to go home and because I was so worried that I would disturb the other people at the allotment I decided to give up and go home as I didn't want to upset them, I thought i might as well give up the allotment and feeling very despondent that I would fail but I'd put a lot of effort into It. So sunday morning at 8am, I wrapped the 2yr old to my back and took the other boys out to the allotment to sort the plot out and I thought if the 2yr old starts to shout and demand then he won't disturb anyone and actually he was very good and all 3 of my boys helped and it was lovely to be out and now don't feel so despondent with the plot.
I also have to remember that I'm new to this and it will take time but the other plot holders don't really say much but hay ho.
Sorry about the ramberling, I'm tired and it's been a stressful week.
I got my delivery of wood chippings today, and OMG there was a lot of it! Took 5 people 4 hours, and that was with them taking some for themselves too! But it's conifer and there are loads of green bits in it, so the only way I can use it for the chickens is to sift all the green stuff out. That's going to take forever
fruitcake , can't you just leave the shredded stuff it soon goes brown ?
been up to A this morning can't believe how the rhubarb has shot up , lots of flowers so O/H cut those off and picked some for use and another plot holder
hoed up potatoes plus lots of little jobs , always something to do , going up there tommrow for a bit of weeding and planting seeds
just about to go in Garden for an hour , out tonight to friends 60th birthday party
I could GWRS but I want the wood chippings in the chicken run so I'm gonna have to take out the green leafy bits and bark beforehand. They can go in the compost.
Todays task has has been laying down membrane and laying chippings on the paths. Not all of them yet but a big start. it's like walking with new slippers on!
Went to GC today, I now have 4 reasonably sized tom plants, the one's I sowed are slow to produce true leaves, also bought a sweet pepper plant. Was looking for brussel sprouts as these are far to late to sow now but no joy.
My garden kneel pad came yesterday. Plan to go to the plot tomorrow.
Went to the plot earlier in the week to water and two people from the association were on site, I've been given a year free of inspections. We did have a chat about what I plan to do though and they are happy if I cover the top half. Part of the bottom is already covered, as fruit bushes/tree's have been planted through ground cover keeping down the weeds.
