I am so glad I visited the Bot. Gdn yesterday and not today which is very windy and wet though still very mild.  There are so many trees there it is not open to visitors in windy weather just in case a branch should break.  I shall concentrate on Xmas tasks today indoors and a visit to the post box will probably be all the fresh air I get!

I did pop up the grden for a half hour but it was much too windy to work.  Still I did see new flowers coming on my primocane Blackberry Reuben from Mr, Fothergills trials which is amazing at this time of year so will go and snap it tomorrow,  These flowers are white and rather large as are the blackberries and the leaves are rather handsome too.no sign of tulips yet frumpy1 but have got the Bristol onion which is a red flowered allium, well up about 18inches.

Just back from the AGS Xmas Social where among the four raffle prizes I won there was a bottle of lovely wine and this beautiful flower arrangement just right for Xmas day.

Xmas cards from the neighbours coming thick and fast through the letter box now so must get out later when my expected visitor this morning has gone and deliver mine as the forecast is for bright and dry all day.  It looks like we are in for a spell of mild weather now so no need to shut up the coldframe at night  - one less thing to remember.  I have a long Xmas poem to rehearse for after the Xmas meal so that will keep my mind occupied too.  I am sitting here very fragrant as I won a large box of Dove toiletries last night in the raffle.  My goodies I ordered with my Cocktail naming prize are arriving Monday which is very swift indeed.  I must find containers for my spices and arrowroot and red lentils.  The dates and nuts will be eaten over the festive period.

My dear friend has just delivered my Xmas presents including a stocking filled with goodies including this cute duck but he had a dreadful cold and I had rather he had stayed in bed nursing it as he plans a train trip north on Monday for Xmas.  There were a few people missing from the AGS party last night because of the 'flu bug flying around.

I got rid of the 'flu very quickly in November flumpy1 and have been very well since.  I forgot to post my friend's presents he brought this morning.  My January issue of Garedners World magazine has just arrived in the post and been avidly devoured.  I bought a year's subscription when two Premium Bonds won me £25 each.

  • Your cakes look lovely marion image i have only put the marzipan on mine today. I've done a two tier one this year so am trying to find the time to get it all iced and decorated.

Its been a lovely day weather weather wise today. I've been in the greenhouse and popped up to one of the allotments to drop off a roller that we picked up on eBay. Chicken run has been purchased and stored around my house, and after Christmas I'll be looking for a house for them image
