Bizzie B I'm no expert, I didn't Evan know what Asters where until I ordered them and watched them flower, I'm learning as I go along , Marion them flowers look lovely, they are my mums favourite too , I'm off work today as I'm going to a wedding, the weather has cheered up, hope It stays dry
I bet there will be lots of lovely flowers at the wedding, flumpy1. Enjoy. Dry at the moment in Bristol and may be all day. I do get so wet working in the garden at the moment having so many huge trees which drip on me. I froze more plums yesterday but there are loads more needing picked. And this weather has been good for slugs so I should get my potato harvest in else the tubers will fall victim to them. No doubt there will runner beans to pick and weigh for Mr. Fothergill today too. My new book on Heritage Fruit and Veg. is enthralling.
Aww one of Mr. Fothergill's "Nation of Gardeners" participants gave birth to a lovely little boy in the wee hours last night. His picture is just delightful. This project has certainly served up some wonderful moments but this beats the biscuit. She was posting results from her very steep cliff side garden right up to a few days ago. Gardening and motherhood are natural partners.
Congratulations to the couple who had a little boy, they are blessed and very lucky , you sound like you've been very busy in your garden even tho the weather has been horrible, it's staying dry so far Marion, apparently it's going to be a nice sunny day tomorrow, hoping I'm not nursing a sore head in the morning .
No sore head I hope, flumpy1. We have had a fairly dry night though the garden furniture is still very damp. but the sun is shining now. My birthday rose is opening its lovely golden buds up and the smell is wonderful. I should be able to get a lovely picture soon. Some of my tiny cucamelons are beginning to get plumper and, as I watered them well last night I am beginning to think that perhaps my mistake was not enough water. A steep learning curve when you try something new.
Good morning Marion, my head fine just a bit tired, my husband was a bit worse for ware when we got home :-\, paracetamol for him today, we dont drink much you see, glad its sunshine for you, its grey here, the weather forcast said clear sunshine mmmmm, awe hope to see a photo Marion when your rose as fully opened, it will look lovely
Both my grand-daughters who sat their A levels this year have done well and are off to uni. next month, one to London and one to my Alma Mater, St. Andrews. One grandson starting his final year in the Uni. of Wales too. The two youngest are only 12 and 10 so some time before their adulthood. It does remind you of your own life as their milestones arrive. I have frozen another batch of plums this morning and must make more soup as I have lots of runner beans and tomatoes as well as potatoes and onions needed used as not good enough to store. Glad the wedding went well. Not drinking much is an asset when it comes to appreciating the occasional glass of champagne I find.
Congratulations! To your grandchildren , sounds like they are doing well, what do they all want to become Doctor etc ?, my cousins went to Cardiff, Derby and one at Oxford and my cousin Vicky is now living and teaching in Farra in Italy she loves it . Does the soup keep you going all through winter Marion?, my dad loves plums
Yes, I always have soup in the freezer for when i get immersed in my writing and do not fancy cooking. I think one girl is destined for the church, the other will find her way forward at St, Andrews which has lots of choices. Another grand-daughter is nursing - my eldest daughter was a midwife. Here are the goodies from my camera moosey up my garden today.
Lovely photos Marion, the Gazanias I see are still flowering, what's the pink plant called on the last picture?, sounds like your gran children have a promising future tell them to keep up the good work
