Yes, it does embarrased to say that's when I noticed it, so busy with the perenials and watering and the heat and - the list goes on. Also caught sight of the Gatekeeper butterfly then. Must sit down more often!
A relief that the judges have been I'm sure how long do you have to wait for their decision?
Another glorious day weatherwise. Could be two weeks before the awards for Bristol in Bloom are announced. The insurance company got in touch yesterday and the inspector is calling Wednesday morning between 8 and 1. A very good friend called to give me a much needed bearhug last night so I have stopped muttering "This too shall pass" to myself and feel much more cheerful. I have loads of huge blackberries needing picked. i love that job.
Blackberries will go with my Mr. Fothergills "Buddy" strawberries which keep fruiting till october as long as you remember to water them in this weather and some late raspberries still fruiting in the spinney to make a summer pudding from a stale loaf i have in the fridge. Super with ice cream. Plums are ripening and there are tons of them. Conference pears are getting to be huge as are the Bramleys. I do get masses of blackberries so will get myself some lemons to make squash with them for Xmas and beyond.
Oooooh, Summer Pudding...............Marion, I am coming over for Tea!! I'll bring my Rhubarb and Ginger Jam and some Scones. Who is going to bring the clotted cream?? A little bit cold and cloudy here in Staffordshire today.
Fruitcake maybe they weren't fully ripe, sure I read somewhere that they ripen at different times in different conditions, gardens, open spaces roadside etc. there's certainly been no shortage of sun!
I made an early start on pruning the Philadelphus this morning, a blckbird and a robin for company. Will cut branches for poles later. Another heavy dew, day warming up, must get to the allotment at some point today as I'm considering a bed for cut flowers.

The blackberries sound mouth wateringly delicious, eating them fresh or pies or jam? Or all three
Much cooler here today, nice breeze so going out to potter about before tackling overdue paperwork.
