Some pics from the back garden before the promised heatwave and thunderstorms do any damage.

Each year I forget and am then bowled over by the scent from my William Shakespeare rose.

Ah, we had ours on 4th July, a sunny market day, the town was busy and all planters looked very good. They were planted as a 'community' with all business' and voluntary organisations having an option to take part.

I see that Bristol encourages individuals too. Nice idea but a ittle daunting if you're not sure when they are coming. I would be a nervous wreck!

My gazanias are opening now too, flumpyi.  They are lovely till the sun goes in when they close up.  Begonias too are flowering their socks off and the pelargoniums.  The forecast is for 27 in Bristol this afternoon so i shall retreat indoors then.  It will be too hot to work outside.  I had four family visitors for supper yesterday so tried out the Black Opal tomatoes on them.  They said they just tasted like a normal fresh tomato so i told them the darker the vegetable the better it was for you, lik darlk kale and beet

    Lovely pics image

I suspect BinB is coming up very soon Marion... I saw the council people out this morning removing the weeds from the walls at the top of Blackboy Hill and again further on down the road.

My July parcel from Mr. Fothergills Nation of Gardeners Trials arrived this morning - 10 ready plants of autumn fruiting broad beans which i have already planted out, seed strips with weed free zone down the side! and a pkt of ordinary lettuce seeds for comparison. and another potato planter and five tubers to plant for Xmas.  I will sow the seeds after we have had some rain and need to buy more compost for the potatoes.  This rose called "Oranges and Lemons" always delights me.

Good evening Marion, and what a lovely evening it is, your orange roses look lovely, I've been told too, the darker the better, the same with salad too, can't believe how fast my tomatoe plants are growing, I noticed one of them have roots growing out of the bottom of the pot, but they are sat in the tomatoe compost, we had Air conditioning on at work today, I've heard rain is coming to spoil the weekend image!, those potatoes sound nice oranges and lemons image, sounds like you've got a busy day tomorrow, hope you enjoy it image

A beautiful, calm evening. Watched a fiery sunset in the west and the sky gradually darkening this north view
