Thanks Chicky! The plan is to get the majority of my plants inside before the frosts start and then I'm hoping that the protection will bring them on a lot quicker in spring. I have lots of Hydrangea, day lilys, arum lilys and fuschia potted up but am a bit worried that the greenhouse might leave them vilnerable to mold?
I'm at mum's in Hampshire and was windy but not too bad here. Pics of Sussex show lots of trees down
What is tragic is a poor 14 year old boy was swept out to sea from the beach yesterday. The coastgaurd were still looking for him last night but I don't think there was much hope.I remember virtually the same thing happening in the '87 or '88 storms.Newhaven is a very small, close knit community and it will hit the town hard. I just can't imagine what his poor family are thinking.
I've just been toThe Range with mum and pansies were 20 for £3.99. I managed to find a pack of the muted coloured ones with one missing for £1.99. Another bargain.
Have a great afternoon all.
Oh Chicky have only just seen your pics of oblisk etc.... now a husband who can make that sort of thing is something I need.
GG what a great splash of colour. Another I want....
The storm had knocked a few plants over and our wheelie bin and damaged our shelter tent in the garden (the dome) ripped a few small holes and one large hole will have to see if it can be repaired
Well I didn't actually say Mr Chicky- just one like him lol.
Really good to see Verd is reconsidering-Stacey I'm sorry I'm going to sin (your netiquette- don't double post) but we don't want our family to be split up. Just want it to continue growing with more wonderful people.
Mum and my two sisters are in Gosport Gardengirl.I was brought up here.
Avoiding garden to day to let it dry out. I have begun to think about veg for spring, and rotating beds. Seems it doesn't really matter unless you have nasties in the soil
Lots of seed catalogues to peruse, but priorty is garlic,I want to chage variety but not sure what. we like it with a bit of punch!
Hopefully things will settle down if the mods are on top of it all a bit more KEF. Wonder if there's been any progress on the pm/typing/notififcations issues though. I've not had a reply by PM from Daniel but he may just post on here so that everyone can get the info directly.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Glad you escaped AJK - will be great to have a new GH ready for the winter.

Anyone got any tips to avoid this?

Hello all
Potty where are you in Hampshire?
The storm had knocked a few plants over and our wheelie bin and damaged our shelter tent in the garden (the dome) ripped a few small holes and one large hole will have to see if it can be repaired
still windy and cold but sunny
pg- you can't have Mr Chicky - I asked first!
Glad everyone here has survived the storms with relatively little grief.
Verdun has posted on his thread which is lovely so hopefully he will return soon. I'll need help with those hellebores if the seeds don't germinate.
And I promised him some..

Makes you realise how unimportant a bit of garden damage is when there has been loss of life.

We also have some sunshine but the wind is bitter.
I'm happy that Daniel has been in touch with us on another thread.
