It is a very pretty rose - lovely in a jug with some alchemilla mollis
And speaking of roses Fb, my little Rosa glauca has little pink buds swelling on it's stems.
Just had a visit from our Lovely Builder - he's going to come over next week and do a few jobs, including finish off the pond (he and his mate are into wildlife and fishing and gardening so they'll do a sensitive job) - the liner has been ordered and should be here on Monday.
The builder's mate is also going to find time to dig the new bed in the front garden - that'll save my back
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Dove good news about helpers. Some of the team that we employ at M's for conifers & trees do extra so they can get worms for fishing out of M's compost heap (and break compost up)
Tracey, I've been thinking..always dangerous, wonder if some of the guys who work part-time at B&Q or DIY stores etc..(with tools skills) might be interested in a couple of hours work for some cash in hand. Anyone working for tax office look away.
Today OH has removed the pampas grass. Now have a sunny bed, and a fence to put some trellis on for something nice. No hedgehog bed, he was careful, but we did have some poo on lawn this morning so he / she are still here, but kipping elsewhere. Relief
Talking of hoovering, my lovely second OH hoovered the kitchen, bedroom and sitting room while I was out riding. I must wash the kitchen floor!
KEF, how did your OH remove the pampas grass? I have a huge one by the veggie garden, which is a mass of dead stuff in the middle with a ring of leaves around it. I've heard you can set fire to them!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
In now out of the freezing cold wind...who said it was spring - it's Baltic here
Got one piece of trellis painted both sides and squeezed it into the shed out of the rain. Compost purchased and no plants found their way into my trolley. That's cos I didn't bother going out to look at any!
KEF - I'd agree with you. Lots of these guys will be happy to do a bit of grafting on a spare day. A previous neighbour of mine obtained a plumber that way and he was very good - fitted an outside tap for me, was very cheap and came on time!
It's suddenly got very dark here...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Talk about 4 seasons in 1 day [ Crowded House song if on the other thread], just had a snow flurry. Have spent more time running inside to get away from the elements today, than I have actually doing anything.
As usual I have been putting off some of the big jobs, brambles are taking over the orchard [ waste ground really, although it does have some ancient apple trees in it ]. I also need to strim it before it starts to grow again. It has been too wet this winter.
Never finished cutting the hedges after my accident and, I cant do them now as birds are starting to nest in them.
I am a lazy so and so.
Tracey, the greenhouse will go up soon - positive thinking.
Very restrained fg., I try to avoid the GC., because even though I buy plants online, if I visit I find it almost impossible to come away without some impulse purchases.
See you later.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Lizzie, OH had a dig around to make sure no hedgehog, then cut as much down as hedge cutter would do, without beaking it. Then had a go with a saw. He had Kevlar gauntlets, heavy fleece and protective eye things. After that he attacked it with grafting spade. A lot of dry dead stuff in the middle, but the actual roots weren't too bad.
Looking at all dead stuff in the middle of ours if you burn it, it will go up like an inferno. This was 14yrs old about 8' high and 6 'wide. Might have been less vigorous than some as a pink flowering one Glad to see the back of it. A nice bottle of red vino is his reward.

And it gets better....I've just shrunk OH's best (and only) Lacoste jumper
Does that mean it'll fit you now, Tracey?
