It was nothing to do with me Dove...honest image

It's been the same here weatherwise so I did some painting in a bedroom. Went out with a friend for tea and buns at the GC and of course the sun came out. I was very well behaved - prices are ridiculous anyway. £8 for a six inch pot of Verb. bon. I could make a fortune with the amount I've got. I bought a little alpine - a little horizontal white thrift for an alpine pan - and a new spade image

I missed the news about Verd's niece - excellent - well done to her Verd , and glad you've had some good stuff after the rubbish Dove. Nice to be appreciated - don't hear that often enough nowadays.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Dove my friend says she was relieved to get out the hospital as soon as was possible here as she had no privacy to bond and she was so scared the baby was going to catch something the ward was so dirty image

Been a mixed day here, hurt myself digging the vegetable plot area so am now resting up before working out if I can balance myself in the kitchen to make some pizzas for super - found a new gluten free dough so am keen to try it.

The maternity unit in local hospital is brand new and sparkling clean, mothers have single rooms, lots of helpful staff too. I was impressed with the 3 other French hospitals I've seen for my other grandchildren. The one in Poitiers was especially good.

Good news about son in law, Dove.

Well I managed to dodge the rain and got my weeding done, veg patch and all borders image Repotted some plants in between the rain too.  Also been visiting neighbours to see if any of them want 'freebies!!' I think I forgot we are a family of four and I didn't win a supermarket contract LOL (that's OH's joke!).

I missed Verdun's news too, well done to Verdun's niece.image

MrsGarden, it's coming along nicely with the arches.image

Well done to your son Dove, that's great news after a rubbish day yesterday......Karma image

Glad you had a nice lunch Panda image

Hope you feel better soon Clari and enjoy your pizza.image

Glad you had lovely cuddles Lizzie.image

In a way I agree with Lizzie, I didn't manage to feed my eldest myself and still beat myself up about it now, then made the decision not to feed the youngest as I was adamant from the beginning they would be treated the same. On the other hand, I too couldn't wait to get home and if I'd had my way would have had a home birth.....OH objected image Having said that, they are both intelligent, not obese, don't suffer from asthma or eczema  so maybe I should forgive myself!!!

Phew, lots of smilies, hope I've not missed anyone image

Re maternity - I think in many ways it was better way back when I was a new mum - I had my son in the big county hospital but within 24 hours we were sent to the local maternity unit where we stayed to bond and recover for 10 days.

My daughter was born in the local unit and again we had 10 days to get to know each other, lovely gardens to sit out in with our visitors and son still remembers coming with Daddy or Grandparents every afternoon to visit his 'daffodil baby sister' born in early April image

By the time we went home we were doing well and ready to pick up the reins at home.

Mind you there was one young mum who was a little limited in her understanding - when I was there she'd already been there more than 10 days and she wasn't allowed home until the midwives were absolutely sure that she fully understood how to look after her baby, sterilise a bottle, mix a feed etc etc etc
