Just seen Busy Lizzie's thread yesterday re the opera - you would have loved the performance of Aida, which I saw 20 years ago in Luxor, Egypt. It was staged at the Temple of Queen Hatshepshut, under the mountains, near the Valley of the Kings.
To reach it easily, the Egyptian Army built a pontoon bridge, spanning the Nile, from Luxor to Thebes - the whole thing was amazingly well organised, and to see Aida in a setting like that,in the desert -unforgettable.
That sounds amazing Pentillie.
I feel a bit flat today. OH is in England and it's always raining. But OH is back tomorrow.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Pentillie that sounds wonderful. I didn't go to the Valley of the Kings when in Egypt but did do the Pyramids and Sphynx etc. It's easy to forget how highly developed and ahead of their time the Ancient Egyptians were until you see the scale of their achievements in the flesh. Aren't we lucky that we're able to go to these places and see them in their full glory. You must have some terrific memories of that trip.
MrsG - it's ok. We still understand what you're saying
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Why don't my quotes work properly? What I write after stays in the quote box?
